Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced arrived on PC on March 4, 2025, nearly three years after its PS5 and Xbox Series X|S debut. The upgrade added ray-tracing options, AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS support, and the Enhanced version of GTA Online—but it also raised the PC requirements. Players moving from Legacy should note that a profile transfer is one-time and Online progress does not stay synchronized between editions.
Why PC players called it a delayed “next-gen” update
The PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions launched on March 15, 2022. PC received its Enhanced edition on March 4, 2025—roughly two years, eleven months and seventeen days later. That gap is why “three years after consoles” works as shorthand, though “nearly three years later” is more precise. Take-Two’s announcement of the console release and Rockstar’s accumulated Title Update 1.70 notes establish the respective release dates.

On PC, Rockstar renamed the earlier version GTAV Legacy and introduced GTAV Enhanced. The upgrade was free for existing PC owners, and Legacy remained supported; Enhanced is a separate edition with new technical features and higher requirements. Rockstar’s Steam announcement covered the upgrade and continued Legacy support.
What Enhanced added to the PC version
Ray tracing and upscaling
Rockstar’s store listing describes ray-traced ambient occlusion and global illumination, as well as ray-traced shadows and reflections. It also lists support for AMD FSR and NVIDIA DLSS. These are supported features, not a promise of a particular frame rate or image-quality result: outcomes depend on the PC, settings and chosen upscaling options.

Loading and GTA Online content
The store listing attributes faster loading on supported devices to SSD storage and DirectStorage. It does not establish a universal loading-time improvement. Enhanced also brings GTA Online features including Hao’s Special Works vehicle upgrades and Career Builder. Rockstar’s March 4, 2025 update notes additionally identify the Oscar Guzman Flies Again content, including the McKenzie Field Hangar. The Title Update 1.70 notes include later PC fixes for issues such as underwater frame-rate drops, crashes, DLSS problems and unexpected VRAM exhaustion. Those entries document a patch cycle, not the performance status of every PC today.
PC system requirements for Enhanced
Rockstar’s requirements page was last updated December 10, 2025. It lists the following specifications; requirements can change, so check the current PC requirements page before buying or upgrading hardware.

The store listing says a purchase includes both Enhanced and Legacy, with Legacy available for hardware that does not meet Enhanced’s minimum requirements. - Open GTAV Enhanced and go to its Landing Page or Pause Menu.
- Choose the option to migrate your profile from Legacy and follow the on-screen instructions.
- If you have already played GTA Online in Enhanced, start the migration from the Pause Menu.
The transfer is a one-time move that cannot be reversed or copied back. Your Legacy progress remains in Legacy, but GTA Online progress does not synchronize between the Legacy and Enhanced profiles after migration. Some profiles may be ineligible, including accounts affected by suspensions or bans and profiles with illegitimate or insufficient progress. Rockstar’s migration instructions contain the eligibility details.

Which PC edition should you use?
- Choose Enhanced if your PC meets its requirements and you want its listed ray-tracing and upscaling features or Enhanced GTA Online content.
- Use Legacy if your hardware falls short of Enhanced’s minimums or if you need to play GTA Online with friends who are using Legacy.
- Coordinate edition before a session. GTA Online players must be on the same edition to play together; Xbox Wire stated this matching-edition requirement in its announcement about GTA V Enhanced.
