GTA VI’s first trailer was reported by fans to have passed 200 million views in the seven months after its December 2023 release. That figure is a historical community-reported milestone, not an official or audited current count. YouTube’s official measure of the launch-day response is clearer: Trailer 1 drew more than 93 million views in its first 24 hours.
What the 200-million figure does—and doesn’t—tell us
A Reddit community post described “GTA 6 trailer 1” as reaching 200 million views and referred to the seven-month span. It does not provide an authoritative, dated YouTube counter snapshot, so the number should be treated as a reported milestone from that period—not as Rockstar-confirmed data or the trailer’s present total. The community post captures the excitement, but it cannot verify a current view count.

The strongest official benchmark for Trailer 1 is its debut. YouTube reported that the video received over 93 million views globally in its first 24 hours, December 4–5, 2023, setting YouTube’s record for a non-music video’s 24-hour debut at the time. YouTube’s report is a distinct statistic: a platform-specific first-day figure, not a cumulative total seven months later.
How Trailer 1 compares with Trailer 2
Take-Two Interactive dates Trailer 1 to December 2023 and Trailer 2 to May 2025. Its 2026 investor presentation says Trailer 2’s cross-platform debut exceeded 475 million views in 24 hours. That total spans platforms, so it should not be directly compared with Trailer 1’s YouTube-only 24-hour count as though both measured the same audience in the same way.

These numbers describe different windows and platform scopes. They show the scale of attention around the trailers, but they do not establish a like-for-like comparison of cumulative views.
What Rockstar has announced about GTA VI
As of October 8, 2026, Rockstar’s official GTA VI page lists a November 19, 2026 release date and PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S as platforms. Release plans can change, so check Rockstar’s page for the latest listing.

Rockstar describes the story as following Jason and Lucia in Vice City and the wider state of Leonida. That official description is the reliable basis for discussing the setting and protagonists; trailer images alone do not confirm specific gameplay mechanics. The page also links both trailers and an “An Extended Look” video.

The seven-month claim is best read as a snapshot of sustained fan interest in the period after Trailer 1 launched, not as a current scorecard. The more defensible official context is that the first trailer had an extraordinary YouTube debut, while Take-Two later reported a much larger cross-platform first-day total for Trailer 2. Together, the figures illustrate attention across successive campaigns—but their differing measurement methods matter as much as their scale.
