Guardian of Nature’s required item is Ref’s orders, found at the EMERCOM Camp on Woods. Search the medical storage boxes beside the large green container, take the document, extract from the raid, and then hand it to Jaeger. The Customs and Shoreline tasks shown in the quest reference are optional, not substitutes for the Woods objective.
Quick route to the required objective
Accept Guardian of Nature from Jaeger, load into Woods, and travel to EMERCOM Camp. The camp is beside the lake on the road toward Sawmill and near RUAF Roadblock. Locate the large green container first. The document is on top of the adjacent medical storage boxes; one guide describes a black box in the left corner when entering from the mountain side, while another describes the boxes in a corner close to the container. Because those orientation descriptions do not line up perfectly, use the container and medical boxes as your landmarks rather than relying on a compass direction.

- Enter the camp and identify the large green container.
- Inspect the tops of the medical storage boxes immediately beside it.
- Pick up Ref’s orders when the interaction appears.
- Reach an available extraction successfully. A failed extraction loses the quest item.
- Return to Jaeger and use the hand-over option to complete the required objective.
The location and landmark description are corroborated by Insider Gaming’s guide and the Games.gg walkthrough.

Check whether Guardian of Nature is available
The quest reference classifies Guardian of Nature as event content and historical content. The Tarkov Hospitality event entry dates its addition to 5 June 2026, but the available event information does not establish that it remains active on 13 October 2026 or on any later date. Before planning a raid, open Jaeger’s task list and confirm that Guardian of Nature is offered on your current game version.

If the task is absent, no amount of searching on Woods will produce the quest document. Availability can depend on the live event state, so treat the in-game task screen as the authority for your account rather than assuming that an old guide means the objective is permanently enabled. The quest’s historical classification is documented on the Guardian of Nature quest page and the event timeline on the Events page.
What Jaeger actually asks you to do
The required task is to locate information about Ref’s plan at the EMERCOM camp on Woods and deliver that intelligence to Jaeger. The item is named Ref’s orders. It is a quest-only pickup: the quest reference says it can be found only while Guardian of Nature is active, and picking it up moves it into the quest-item inventory.
Jaeger’s premise is that he needs information before acting. His in-game line is: “First, though, we need information. Find out who’s occupying that camp now and try to learn what they’re planning.” This is character dialogue from the quest, not a real-world statement; it is reproduced in the quest reference.
Required versus optional objectives
The Woods document is the objective that controls completion. The reference also lists objectives to locate Ref’s mercenaries on Customs and Shoreline. Those are separate, optional objectives associated with the event task. You do not need to substitute either map for Woods when your immediate goal is to retrieve the orders and unlock the hand-in.
Finding EMERCOM Camp on Woods
EMERCOM Camp is a recognizable medical area on Woods. It sits alongside the lake, on the road toward Sawmill, and close to RUAF Roadblock. Use those large map features to approach the camp; the document is not described as being in a separate building or hidden underground.
Approach with landmarks, not a fixed corner callout
Published descriptions agree on the important visual pair: medical storage boxes beside a large green container. They differ in how they label the corner. Games.gg describes entering from the mountain side and checking a black medical storage box in the left corner next to the container. Insider Gaming places the document on top of medical storage boxes in a corner near the same container. Since the corner wording can be interpreted differently depending on your approach, do this instead:
- Find the large green container before searching individual boxes.
- Walk around the container and inspect every immediately adjacent medical storage box.
- Look at the upper surfaces, not only the ground or the box sides.
- If you entered from another direction, ignore “left” or “right” and keep the container in view while checking the boxes.
This method avoids inventing a compass direction that the guides do not consistently establish.

Step-by-step: pick up Ref’s orders
- Confirm the task is active. Guardian of Nature must be accepted from Jaeger before the quest item can appear.
- Deploy to Woods. Plan your raid around reaching EMERCOM Camp and preserving enough time and resources for extraction.
- Locate the camp. Use the lake, Sawmill road, and RUAF Roadblock as the surrounding landmarks.
- Identify the green container. It is the most reliable reference shared by the location descriptions.
- Search the medical boxes. Check the tops of the boxes touching or immediately next to the container. Include the black medical box mentioned by Games.gg.
- Interact with the document. When the prompt for Ref’s orders appears, complete the pickup and verify that the item is listed in your quest-item inventory.
- Leave the camp and extract. The item must survive the raid; a failed extraction removes it, forcing you to search for it again while the task remains active.
The quest item is not a normal loot object that can be carried indefinitely between failed raids. Treat the pickup as the point at which the raid becomes an extraction run.
Survive the extraction and hand in the document
Why extraction is the critical step
The quest reference explicitly states that Ref’s orders is lost if you fail to extract. Finding the document therefore does not complete Guardian of Nature by itself. If you die, disconnect in a way that counts as a failed extraction, or otherwise fail the raid, you must return to Woods and retrieve the item again while the quest is active.
After the pickup, avoid unnecessary fights and route toward an extraction you can currently use. The exact exits available to you depend on your raid spawn and current extraction conditions, so verify the active extraction list in your interface rather than committing to an exit from memory.
Hand-in sequence
- Complete a successful extraction with Ref’s orders in the quest-item inventory.
- Return to the trader screen and open Jaeger’s tasks.
- Select Guardian of Nature and choose the turn-in or hand-over control for the document.
- Confirm the completion screen and collect the listed rewards.
Adaptive Diplomacy is listed as the follow-up quest after Guardian of Nature. It becomes relevant only after the hand-in is accepted, so extracting with the document is the gate to that progression.

Raid risks at the camp
Both location guides warn that other players may be drawn to EMERCOM Camp. Insider Gaming also mentions possible Partizan presence. These are reported possibilities, not guaranteed spawns or conditions in every raid. Treat the camp as a contested area: listen before entering, keep an escape route in mind, and avoid standing exposed while checking the boxes.
Because the item is lost on a failed extraction, the safest decision after pickup is usually to stop taking optional engagements. The optional Customs and Shoreline objectives can be attempted in separate raids; they do not justify risking a completed Woods pickup unless you deliberately choose to combine tasks.
Optional Customs and Shoreline objectives
Guardian of Nature’s reference includes objectives to locate Ref’s mercenaries on Customs and Shoreline. They provide additional event-task goals but are not the required document objective described in the Woods instructions. The available material does not establish a single item landmark for those two maps, so do not confuse them with the EMERCOM Camp search.

If your task screen shows those objectives, read their exact wording and map requirements in-game. Complete the Woods hand-in first if your priority is unlocking the listed follow-up and securing the document-related rewards.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems2Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches3Clear out junk files and repair common Windows errorsRead the objective wording literally
The task is about finding information on Ref’s plan, but the actionable requirement is narrower: obtain the item named Ref’s orders at EMERCOM Camp and deliver it to Jaeger. You are not asked to clear the camp, eliminate every occupant, or investigate every map before the document can be handed over. Searching unrelated medical locations on Woods will not replace the camp objective.
Because the item is tied to the active quest, picking it up on a different character state or before accepting the task is not a workaround. Once it appears, the game moves it into the quest-item inventory rather than treating it as ordinary equipment. That inventory placement is useful confirmation that you have the correct object; the next meaningful checkpoint is a successful extraction.
When to attempt the optional maps
There is no stated requirement to combine Woods, Customs, and Shoreline in one raid. If the event task displays all three locations, separate your plans according to risk. The Woods run carries the irreplaceable document objective, so finish that hand-in before experimenting with optional mercenary objectives if progression is your priority. A later raid can address Customs or Shoreline while leaving the already-completed Woods pickup safe.
Conversely, players who intentionally combine objectives should understand the trade-off: extending a raid after obtaining Ref’s orders creates more opportunities for a failed extraction. The optional goals do not protect the document from being lost, and the item must still be handed to Jaeger after extraction.

Event background: why Ref and Jaeger are involved
The event entry says Ref was seeking locations for Arena fights while Jaeger opposed that plan. During the Tarkov Hospitality event, cleanup crews were reported at camps on Woods, Customs, and Shoreline and were described as neutral to PMCs. That event description does not establish that the same crews are present in the current live game, so use it as background rather than as a prediction of today’s raid behavior.

No document prompt appears
- Check that Guardian of Nature is active on Jaeger’s task screen. The item is only findable while the quest is active.
- Confirm that you are at EMERCOM Camp on Woods, not another medical area or a camp on a different map.
- Return to the large green container and inspect every adjacent medical box, including the box described as black.
- Look across the top surfaces and approach from more than one side; the guides’ corner descriptions are not interchangeable for every spawn.
I picked it up but died
A failed extraction removes Ref’s orders. Reactivate the task if necessary, then repeat the Woods search. Do not expect the document to remain in your stash as ordinary loot.
I extracted but cannot hand it over
- Verify that the raid counted as a successful extraction rather than a failed or incomplete exit.
- Open Jaeger’s task list and select Guardian of Nature specifically.
- Check that Ref’s orders is present in the quest-item inventory and that you are using the hand-over control, not a normal stash transfer.
- If the quest is no longer listed, check the current event state and your game version; the reference classifies this task as historical event content.
The camp is occupied
Other players and, according to Insider Gaming’s report, possible Partizan presence can make the approach dangerous. Wait for an opening, use cover, and prioritize extraction once the document is secured. There is no requirement in the stated Woods objective to clear every threat at the camp.
Practical preparation checklist
- Confirm Guardian of Nature is currently offered by Jaeger.
- Know the lake, Sawmill road, and RUAF Roadblock landmarks before deploying.
- Plan to identify the green container first, then search the neighboring medical boxes.
- Leave enough raid time to travel from the camp to an active extraction.
- Keep the document in the quest-item inventory after pickup.
- Do not add optional Customs or Shoreline objectives to the same run unless you accept the additional risk.
- After a successful extraction, return directly to Jaeger and complete the hand-in.
Following the container-and-box landmarks is more dependable than memorizing a single “left corner” callout. Once the document is secured, extraction—not further searching—is the objective that determines whether Guardian of Nature can be completed.
