That is a useful starting point, not a universal best-to-worst order: Arena, Colosseum, Raid, story, tower, and Kamazon reward different roles and team combinations. How to read a Guardian Tales tier list
Overall tiers are a shortcut for comparing heroes, but they do not guarantee that a hero will be the best choice for every activity or account. A strong Arena pick may not be the best Raid addition, and a hero ranked lower overall can still be valuable in a specific mode. The official game description emphasizes party composition and hero synergy as ways to amplify team damage, so judge a hero by the roster they will join as well as their individual tier. - Use the tier as a starting point: it summarizes an evaluator’s chosen modes, data, and assumptions.
- Match the role to the activity: consider damage, support, tanking, and how a hero fits your party.
- Account for your investment: a built older hero may serve your teams better than an unbuilt high-tier newcomer.
- Check your server: schedules and availability are not identical across regions.
Current overall tier lists
Two recent editorial views provide a practical snapshot. Pocket Gamer’s all-character list was updated September 7, 2026, for version 3.53.0. Claude Gaming’s global-server synthesis was checked October 2, 2026, and compares three September rankings using release timing, role-based evaluation, and pick usage. Neither is an official game ranking, and their differences reflect editorial method and scope.

Which heroes are best for each mode?
There is no substantiated single universal tier order by mode in the available rankings. Guardian Tales Guides instead describes a dynamic overall order built nightly from weighted mode data: its Arena and Colosseum inputs use KR top-100 rankings, Raid uses the site’s current raid results, Kamazon uses its current teams, and PvE uses its current PvE teams with a lower weight.
- Arena and other PvP: consider the current rules, server, and heroes appearing in that mode’s rankings. Guardian Tales Guides cautions that KR-only heroes may rank lower in its list and that availability can affect some mode scores.
- Colosseum: prioritize a hero’s fit with the rest of your party rather than relying on an overall tier alone.
- Raid: use raid-specific rankings and team roles; an overall S tier does not by itself establish the best raid choice.
- Story, PvE, tower, and Kamazon: judge usefulness in the content you actually play. Pocket Gamer specifically notes that heroes outside its highest overall tiers can excel in content such as Tower.
Guardian Tales Guides’ ranking page explains its mode inputs and their limitations. Its dynamic, site-specific aggregation is a useful contrast to fixed editorial tables, not a universal game rating.

Who should you build or pursue?
Use the rankings to identify candidates, then decide whether each one fills a need in your account. The October global synthesis explicitly frames high tiers as a wishlist rather than a shopping order: a well-built older hero can still clear most content. Do not interpret an overall S or S+ label as a guarantee that a hero is the right next investment for your roster.
- Choose the activity you care about most. Arena, Colosseum, Raid, and PvE can call for different strengths.
- Identify the gap in your team. Decide whether you need damage, support, or a more durable front line, and check party synergy.
- Compare the candidate in more than one list. Look at the date, server scope, ranking method, and mode inputs before treating a tier as decisive.
- Check whether you can access the hero. A ranking does not establish that a character is currently summonable in your region.
- Account for investment already made. Compare the likely benefit of building a new hero with what your existing team can already do.
Roster size and regional availability
A September 15, 2026 official summon notice for the EU/NA/OC/LA service lists 105 three-star heroes, 29 two-star heroes, and 22 one-star heroes. Those are counts in that dated notice, not a promise that every listed hero is concurrently summonable or that other regional servers share the same roster schedule. Global rankings also need regional context. Claude Gaming labels its synthesis global, while Guardian Tales Guides says its PvP inputs come from Korean top-100 rankings and notes that Korea and Japan run different schedules. A hero’s placement or availability in one server context should not be assumed to transfer exactly to another.
Balance changes can make older rankings stale
In a January 30, 2026 developer letter, Director Robin said that after the Myth update, Arena, Master Arena, and Death Match battles would use an adjusted level of 115 for all heroes. The letter also described planned work to reduce the PvP performance gap between Grade 5 and Grade 6 heroes after feedback that Grade 6 heroes felt overwhelmingly powerful. This is a dated statement, not confirmation that the same rules remain unchanged on October 7, 2026; check later official patch notes before relying on it as the current PvP system.
