To get started in Gundam Breaker 4, play missions, break enemy parts, collect what drops, then make a few deliberate changes to your Gunpla before heading out again. The game’s central loop is “Break, Build, Battle!”—and experimenting with two weapons and your growing parts collection is more useful early on than chasing an unverified “best” build.
How to get started in Gundam Breaker 4
Think of each early mission as part of a loop: fight enemies, break their parts, collect parts, and use what you earn to customize your Gunpla for the next mission. Bandai Namco describes this as the game’s Break, Build, Battle cycle on its official game page and in its launch announcement.

- Play a mission and observe combat. Notice how your weapons feel at their effective range and how their attacks flow.
- Collect parts by breaking enemies. New parts give you options for changing your Gunpla.
- Review your collection after the mission. Look for a part or ability that suits how you want to play.
- Change a few things, then test again. Keeping changes small makes it easier to notice what feels different.
The small-change approach is a practical way to learn your build; it is not a hidden progression rule or a publisher-prescribed optimization method.
Try both weapons before settling on a style
Gundam Breaker 4 lets you equip and use two different weapons, and the publisher highlights weapon-based combos. Try different combinations over several missions, paying attention to each weapon’s range, attack rhythm, and how comfortable it feels to switch between them.
#1 Best Overall
- BREAK! - Use two different weapons at the same time in Gundam Breaker 4 to create unique combos and break off parts of your enemies to add them to your collection. It s your loot, so you get to keep it... and use it!
- BUILD! - Choose from over 250 base kits and combine their parts to build your perfect Gunpla. Customize it with paint, weathering, and decals to make it uniquely your own and display it in the new Diorama Mode. With multiple backgrounds and special effects to choose from, you can create epic, dynamic scenes to share online
- BATTLE! - Take your custom Gunpla on a variety of intense combat missions and put it to the test as you battle tough opponents in online or single player modes. Fight with your friends, equip new abilities to gain an edge, and destroy your enemies!
There is no verified universal beginner pairing or objectively best combo route in the official sources cited here. Treat recommendations you encounter as starting points to test, not settled rankings.
Use parts to shape a build with a clear purpose
For a first build, decide what you want to prioritize—such as a combat style you enjoy or a particular look—and choose parts accordingly. Test the result before making another round of changes. This keeps experimentation understandable without suggesting that one configuration is best for every mission or player.
Bandai Namco says the game includes more than 250 base kits or Mobile Suits as sources for builds. Customization extends beyond parts: you can paint your Gunpla, apply weathering and decals, add builder parts, and create dioramas. Those tools let you pursue visual expression as well as combat preferences; you do not need to make every change for a combat advantage. See the official game page and the publisher’s March 2025 update announcement for examples of customization features.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Play solo or team up with friends
The game offers single-player missions and online co-op for up to three players, according to Bandai Namco’s launch announcement and official Japanese overview. You can begin solo or play with a small group; choose whichever makes it easier to learn the combat and parts loop.
Before arranging a session, confirm that everyone is using a compatible platform. Bandai Namco’s Japanese overview states that online multiplayer is not cross-platform. Subscription requirements may differ by platform and region, so check the applicable platform’s current requirements.
Check updates and content availability
Bandai Namco’s official update information page documents gameplay and weapon adjustments and says the applicable update is required for online play. The publisher announced a free update in March 2025 that added Gundam GQuuuuuuX and Gundam EX, along with builder parts, paint patterns, diorama objects and poses, Master Skill settings, and other improvements. Its announcement is a dated account of that update, not confirmation that every item is included in every edition or storefront today.
The publisher also announced story mission and diorama-pack DLC on October 24, 2024. Check the DLC announcement and your platform’s current listing to confirm availability and what is included. For current update details, consult the official notices; the cited sources do not establish the latest patch version.
If parts seem to be missing
If a part does not appear where you expect, or you have a question about synthesis, consult Bandai Namco’s official Japanese FAQ, which includes troubleshooting categories for those issues. For controls or other details, check the current in-game help or official platform-specific documentation rather than relying on unverified control bindings or limits.
