Hades II has six main Nocturnal Arms, and each has a hidden aspect that unlocks a different fighting style. The weapons are the Witch’s Staff, Sister Blades, Moonstone Axe, Umbral Flames, Argent Skull, and Xinth, the Black Coat. The available sources confirm that roster and the aspect system, but do not establish a complete current list of aspect names, rank effects, or unlock recipes. This guide separates what is confirmed from what you should check in your current game.
All six main weapons in Hades II
Supergiant Games identified Xinth, the Black Coat, as the sixth and final main weapon when it completed the initial roster. Its later Unseen Update announcement confirms that each main weapon can receive a hidden aspect with a different fighting style.
| Nocturnal Arm | What is confirmed here |
|---|---|
| Witch’s Staff | One of the six main weapons; it has a hidden aspect. A full current moveset and aspect-effect breakdown is not established by the cited sources. |
| Sister Blades | One of the six main weapons; it has hidden aspects. The cited update records document changes to the weapon and to named aspects, but do not give a complete current roster or rank guide. |
| Moonstone Axe | One of the six main weapons; it has hidden aspects. The cited update records document changes to the weapon and named aspects, but not a complete current effect or rank guide. |
| Umbral Flames | One of the six main weapons; it has hidden aspects. The cited update records document weapon and aspect tuning, but not a complete current effect or rank guide. |
| Argent Skull | One of the six main weapons; it has hidden aspects. The cited update records document weapon and aspect tuning, but not a complete current effect or rank guide. |
| Xinth, the Black Coat | The sixth and final main weapon in the initial roster; it has a hidden aspect. The cited sources do not provide a complete current effect or rank guide. |
The roster and hidden-aspect structure are supported by Supergiant’s update archive and Unseen Update announcement. “Hidden aspect” means an additional weapon style to reveal, not another main weapon.
What weapon aspects change—and what is not established
An aspect gives a main weapon a distinct fighting style. Supergiant describes the system in its Unseen Update announcement, but the source set does not establish every aspect name, exact rank effect, or reveal condition. It would be misleading to present an unverified list as a complete, current unlock guide.

- Battle beyond the Underworld using dark sorcery to take on the Titan of Time in this bewitching sequel to the award-winning rogue-like dungeon crawler.
For the precise aspect available to you, open the weapon screen and the Book of Shadows in your current game. Use those in-game descriptions for the current reveal requirements and rank effects; patch notes show that both weapon behavior and aspect mechanics can change after release. Supergiant’s announcement confirms the system, while the v1.0 patch notes document adjustments to hidden-aspect reveal requirements.
Weapon aspects are only one kind of upgrade
Do not treat “weapon upgrades” as a single interchangeable system. The v1.0 notes separate changes to Nocturnal Arms, Aspects, and the Altar of Ashes. That distinction matters: an aspect is a weapon-specific fighting style, while Altar of Ashes changes belong to a separate progression system. The v1.0 launch announcement also describes Hades II as having multiple upgrade systems.

- Battle beyond the Underworld to vanquish the Titan of Time as the Princess of the Dead in this bewitching sequel to the original rogue-like dungeon crawler. Hades II lets players explore a bigger, deeper mythic world with the full might of Olympus at their call in a story that reacts to their every setback and accomplishment.
The cited sources do not provide a complete current catalog of upgrade items, costs, rank effects, or unlock steps. They also are not sufficient to itemize every run-specific weapon upgrade. Check the relevant in-game screen for its current wording and cost rather than assuming an older guide’s figures still apply. The official v1.0 announcement and the v1.0 notes establish that these systems exist, not a comprehensive current walkthrough.
Balance changes that affect older weapon guides
Specific damage, speed, and channel-time claims are version-sensitive. The following are documented historical changes, not a guarantee that the same behavior or values remain unchanged in every platform build as of October 4, 2026.

| Update | Documented changes | How to use this information |
|---|---|---|
| v1.0, September 25, 2025 | The notes changed Sister Blades attack damage and range, Umbral Flames Special damage, Moonstone Axe Special speed and dash-cancel behavior, and Argent Skull Omega Special channel time. They also record adjustments to Moonstone Axe aspects Melinoë and Thanatos, Argent Skull aspect Medea, Sister Blades aspect Morrigan, and Umbral Flames aspect Supay, plus minor changes to hidden-aspect reveal requirements. | These are changes recorded at launch, not a complete current stat sheet. See the v1.0 patch notes. |
| Post-Launch Patch 2, April 14, 2026 | The reproduced notes report that the Blades’ Aspect of Artemis recharges its Riposte faster, the Blades’ Aspect of Pan also works with Dancing Knives, and the Skull’s Aspect of Hel channels Omega Attack faster and hits cocoons more reliably. | These are later examples of aspect tuning; they do not establish a universal ranking. See the Post-Launch Patch 2 notes. |
| Post-Launch Patch 2 Hotfix 5, July 2026 | Nintendo Life’s report on the PC notes records a fix to an Aspect of Artemis interaction. The report said Switch updates were expected later; the cited information does not confirm when they arrived. | Do not assume the same hotfix is available on every platform based on this report alone. See Nintendo Life’s Hotfix 5 report. |
Choosing a weapon or aspect
The sources establish that the arms and their aspects offer different fighting styles, but they do not support a stable “best weapon” ranking or a current, exhaustive comparison of their movesets. Choose based on the attack pattern and aspect description shown in your build, then account for the resources and mechanics that description names.
- Read the current weapon and aspect descriptions rather than relying on an old damage or speed figure.
- Check the patch notes for the platform and update you play when a recommendation depends on a specific mechanic.
- Treat tier lists as version- and build-dependent opinions, not as a conclusion established by the update records cited here.
Optional: physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition
If you want a boxed copy rather than information about combat progression, Supergiant announced a physical Nintendo Switch 2 edition whose game card also includes the original Switch version. Nintendo’s product page lists a November 20, 2025 release date and describes Switch 2 performance as up to 120 fps at 1080p in TV mode and 60 fps at 1080p in handheld mode. These are platform and edition details, not weapon unlock requirements. See Supergiant’s retail announcement and Nintendo’s product listing.
