Hades II v1.0 launched on September 25, 2025, for Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. It is also available on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, which launched later, on April 14, 2026. Supergiant Games says Hades II was the highest-rated game of 2025 according to Metacritic and OpenCritic; that year-end claim is separate from Metacritic’s changeable current score.
When did Hades II v1.0 launch?
Supergiant Games released Hades II v1.0 on September 25, 2025, simultaneously on Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. The game had previously entered Early Access on Steam and Epic on May 6, 2024. Existing owners on either PC storefront received v1.0 as a free automatic update. The Switch performance figures are specifications announced by Supergiant, not independent benchmark results. Can you transfer a Hades II save between PC and Switch?
Cross-saves are supported within two specific pairs: Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, and Steam and Epic Games Store. Supergiant says cross-saves with other versions are unavailable because of technical limitations. A save transfer from PC to Switch is therefore not supported.
What does “highest-rated game of 2025” mean?
Supergiant’s FAQ says, “Hades II was the highest-rated game of 2025 according to Metacritic and OpenCritic.” That is the publisher’s attribution of a year-specific ranking to the two review aggregators; it should not be confused with a score that remains fixed over time.

Is Hades II a sequel that requires playing the first game?
Hades II is a sequel and rogue-like dungeon crawler rooted in Greek myth and witchcraft. You play as Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld, fighting Chronos, the Titan of Time. Supergiant says prior knowledge of the original Hades is not required.

Is there a physical edition of Hades II?
Supergiant announced a physical Switch 2 edition as a game card compatible with the original Switch. It includes a character compendium booklet, a soundtrack download code, and a reversible cover. Its announced North American retail launch price was $49.99, and the FAQ lists a November 20, 2025 retail launch; that is historical launch information, not a current price or confirmation of stock. The FAQ said no physical editions were planned for PS5 or Xbox Series X|S.
