Supergiant Games announced the Warsong Update for Hades II on February 19, 2025, adding the surface route’s final confrontation at the summit of Mount Olympus. The developer called it the game’s second major update; it also introduced Ares, new combat and progression changes, and more story content. Warsong completed the surface route’s structure, not the full game or its Early Access development.
What does the Warsong Update add?
Supergiant described Warsong as adding “all-new encounters at the end of the surface route,” alongside the arrival of Ares and changes to Arcana and resource collection. The update’s defining addition is the Final Confrontation on Mount Olympus, supported by new locations, foes, and a Guardian in the final surface Region. Supergiant’s February 19, 2025 announcement and the archived patch notes detail the additions.
How does the Mount Olympus confrontation change the surface route?
Warsong adds a final destination to the surface path: the summit of Mount Olympus, where players face a new Guardian. This gives the surface route a concluding confrontation within its run structure. It does not mean the game’s full story is finished; Supergiant said at the time that Early Access development would continue and that another major update was planned.
Who are Ares and Gale the Polecat?
Ares and his Boons
Ares joins as a god whose Boons offer new combat options, including new Duo Boons. The announcement characterizes him as “violence-loving,” but the update’s practical addition is another set of choices for shaping a run.

Gale the Polecat
Gale is a new Familiar. According to the patch notes, Gale grants a chance to Dodge and increases movement speed, while also blocking damage a few times per Region.
What changed in Arcana, combat, and resource gathering?
Warsong revised Arcana effects and artwork and adjusted some Boons. It also changed how resource collection works, with practical consequences for early progression:

The patch also included music and interface updates. These are broad update categories rather than a claim that every system or route received a change.
How much new story content is in Warsong?
Supergiant said Warsong added more than 2,000 new voice lines. It also expanded character interactions, giving the update narrative material beyond the new surface encounters. The voice-line figure is the developer’s count, announced in February 2025.

How was the update distributed?
In its February 19, 2025 announcement, Supergiant said Warsong was a free, automatic download for the Early Access version of Hades II on Steam and the Epic Games Store. That describes the distribution terms stated at announcement, not a fresh check of platform availability today.
