If Halo Infinite crashes on PC, first note when it happens, which launcher you use, and any exact error message. Then match the symptom to an official known issue or the repair steps for your storefront; the fixes differ for Steam, Microsoft Store, and the Xbox app. A crash alone does not establish one universal cause.
Start by identifying the crash pattern
Before changing settings, record the point of failure and the setup. That makes it easier to distinguish a launch problem from a campaign-specific or multiplayer issue.
- When: Does the game fail to launch, crash while loading campaign, crash during a multiplayer match, or fail after a particular map or action?
- Where installed: Steam, Microsoft Store, or Xbox app?
- What appears: Copy the exact error text, or note if the game freezes, closes without a message, or triggers a Windows not-responding prompt.
Check current known issues before applying a workaround
Halo Support’s known-issues lists can change. Check the Halo Infinite Multiplayer Known Issues and Halo Infinite Campaign Known Issues pages, and apply a workaround only when both the symptom and platform match. The multiplayer list was updated November 18, 2025; the campaign list was updated June 10, 2025, version 1.11.0.1, so later updates may change what is listed.
Steam Forge crash when loading Oasis
Halo Support lists a Steam issue where loading a Forge session on Oasis may crash. Its workaround is to start a Forge session on a different map, leave that session, and then start Oasis.

Missing Easy Anti-Cheat can block launch
Halo Support notes that Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) may rarely be missing and prevent the game from launching. For Steam, verify the game files using the steps below. For the Xbox app or Microsoft Store, Support’s listed remedy is to uninstall and reinstall the game to trigger EAC installation.
Comodo may block some installations
The multiplayer known-issues page says Comodo Antivirus may block launch for Microsoft Store or Xbox app installations. If that is your configuration, use the excluded-applications workaround on the official known-issues page; do not treat it as a general fix for other antivirus products or storefronts.

Windows capture settings and performance
Halo Support associates Background Recording on Windows 10 and Record What Happened on Windows 11 with performance issues. The same page discusses Hardware-accelerated GPU scheduling and notes different defaults on Windows 10 and 11. Because the instructions are OS-sensitive, follow the current page’s guidance rather than relying on an old menu path. These are documented performance issues, not proof that capture settings cause every crash.
Repair files when the symptoms suggest corruption
Halo Support says rare corruption introduced during installation or an update can result in a crash without an error, a freeze with a “Damaged media” or “module is damaged” message, or a not-responding prompt. Those symptoms make a file repair reasonable; unexplained crashes are not necessarily file corruption. Use the repair control for the installation platform:

For the specific Steam campaign launch crash, toggle the texture-pack DLC
The campaign known-issues page describes a Steam launch crash when both Campaign and Multiplayer High-Res Texture Packs are not installed. This is a narrow workaround for that documented condition, not a general Steam troubleshooting step.

- In Steam, open Halo Infinite’s DLC properties and uncheck Multiplayer High-Res Textures.
- Let the game update, then relaunch it.
- If it still crashes, repeat the process with Campaign and Campaign High-Res Textures.
- If the crash persists after those changes, reboot the PC.
- If the game launches, reinstall any DLC you removed.

Halo Support’s November 18, 2025 Operation: Infinite patch notes describe a rare multiplayer crash on PC or Xbox Series X|S when ray-traced sun shadows are enabled. If that matches your situation, turn the option off at Settings > Video. The notes do not identify this as a general fix for other crash patterns. Check graphics drivers and published PC requirements
Halo Support’s PC hardware page, updated December 12, 2024, publishes these minimum and recommended High-tier specifications. They are a reference for eligibility, not a diagnosis or guarantee that a system meeting them will be stable.

Find the installed GPU and its driver version in the Display tab of DxDiag, then get the current driver from the GPU manufacturer. Halo Support says, “Halo Infinite should be played with the latest PC graphics drivers.” Its hardware page’s named driver versions are dated, so they should not be treated as current recommendations.
The October 7, 2025 Fall Update notes say that update addressed an issue preventing launch through the Xbox PC and Microsoft Store apps, and that a driver update resolved an incompatibility error affecting some PCs with integrated Intel GPUs. Those are historical fixes, not evidence that a similar present-day crash has the same cause. If you see a matching Intel incompatibility error, consult the Fall Update patch notes and Intel’s current driver information.
Consider replacing storage or another component only if it is below the published requirement, incompatible with the system, or failing. The published SSD requirement does not show that replacing an SSD fixes ordinary crashes on a compliant, healthy PC.
Send Halo Support evidence it can use
If the platform repair and matching workaround do not help, submit a Halo Support ticket with reproducible details. Halo Support requests step-by-step reproduction instructions, a current DxDiag file, and the Halo Infinite Problem Report copied from Control Panel. Include when the crash occurs, your storefront, and the exact error text so the report can be matched to your setup. The Operation: Infinite patch notes also direct players to provide this diagnostic information.
