The available official information does not establish that Halo Infinite has a newly announced explosive weapon or that fans are depressed about one. Halo Support’s weapon inventory does list the Volatile Skewer, a Banished weapon variant that fires an explosive spike, but it does not call the variant new or tie it to that reaction.
What Halo Support confirms about the Volatile Skewer
Halo Support’s Halo Infinite Weapon, Equipment, and Vehicle Inventory identifies the Volatile Skewer as a Banished weapon variant. Its gameplay description says it is a “Skewer refitted to fire an explosive spike that detonates on impact.” That supports describing its projectile as explosive; it does not establish when the variant was added or announced.
Why “new explosive weapon” is not specific enough
The same inventory lists other explosive or explosive-adjacent items, including the Spike Grenade and Scrap Cannon. The phrase “explosive weapon” therefore does not uniquely identify the Volatile Skewer—or any particular new addition. The inventory provides gameplay descriptions, not comparative balance figures or evidence that one item is newly released.
Is there evidence that fans are depressed?
No attributable player comments or representative measure of fan sentiment is established by the available information. Without a specific announcement and verifiable reactions, “fans depressed” should not be treated as a documented response or consensus.

What remains unverified
- Which weapon the headline intends to identify.
- An update, announcement, or gameplay reveal that would make the weapon “new,” and its date.
- Player reactions supporting the claim that fans are depressed.
The official inventory can confirm that the Volatile Skewer exists and describe its explosive spike, but it does not resolve those questions.
