Halo Infinite’s new weapon is the Mutilator, a double-barreled shotgun with a Gravity Hammer at its business end. It arrived with Operation: Last Stand in the 2025 Summer Update, and it is available in the Mutilator Madness mode as well as on maps, in custom matches, and in Forge.
When did the Mutilator arrive in Halo Infinite?
Halo Waypoint’s 2025 Summer Update calendar lists Operation: Last Stand for May 6, 2025. The operation launch article says it was live through June 10, 2025. Those dates describe the operation’s launch window, not a claim that the weapon was removed afterward.
What is the Mutilator?
Halo Waypoint describes the Mutilator as “a double-barreled powerhouse with a Gravity Hammer at the business end.” Its launch article calls it “a cruel instrument of maximum devastation,” combining a double-barreled shotgun with a Gravity Hammer. The design brings close-range firepower and a hammer follow-up into one weapon.
How does the Mutilator fire?
Standard fire shoots one shell at a time. Switch to alternate fire for a two-shell burst; if an opponent survives the blast at close range, the hammer on the weapon’s front can finish the attack with a melee strike.

The official descriptions explain the firing modes but do not give damage, range, rate-of-fire, or time-to-kill figures. That means there is no reliable basis in those announcements for a numerical comparison with other Halo Infinite power weapons. In practical terms, the stated design points to a weapon centered on close-range burst damage and immediate melee pressure, with ammunition use and map placement shaping when it is useful.

How does Mutilator Madness work?
At the start of each match, one player is randomly selected to become the Mutilator-carrying Juggernaut. The Juggernaut earns points by getting kills. When another player defeats the Juggernaut, that player takes over the role, shifting the weapon and scoring opportunity to the killer.

The official launch and update announcements establish its firing modes and supported play contexts, but they do not publish the statistics needed to rank it against other power weapons by damage or effective range. The grounded way to assess it is by its stated role: a close-range shotgun burst followed by a hammer attack, with its value varying according to ammunition, map access, and whether the match is using the Juggernaut format.
