Those comments are selected individual reactions, not a representative survey. Other commenters report bugs, uneven mission pacing or difficulty, and reservations about cutscene animation and voice acting. The available sources do not provide controlled gameplay testing or an independent comparison with Halo 4, so they cannot establish that New Covenant is a better campaign or that Halo fans broadly agree with the headline.
Requirements and installation depend on your version of MCC
Steam
The Steam Workshop instructions require Halo 3: ODST DLC. They say to set MCC to English, including English text, and launch the game with anti-cheat disabled. Once installed, launch the mod from the Halo 3: ODST campaign options in MCC. Follow the Steam Workshop page’s current instructions, since installation details can change.

Game Pass
A separate Nexus listing provides a manual-install route for the Game Pass version and identifies version 1.0.3, updated April 12, 2025. That version added mission 3. Its instructions also call for English language and text, recommend Normal difficulty, and describe launching through the ODST campaign menu. Do you need Halo 3: ODST?
Yes. The Steam listing specifies Halo 3: ODST as required DLC, and the Game Pass instructions place the mod in MCC’s ODST campaign menu. The mod is not described as a standalone game.

Co-op, difficulty, and known gameplay caveats
The creator advertises co-op for up to four players. The listing recommends Normal difficulty and cautions that harder settings may be less balanced. It also identifies two practical progression issues:
- Audio between missions: The creator recommends returning to mission select between missions to work around an MCC audio glitch.
- Mission 3 door: Running ahead or behaving unusually in the third mission can softlock a door, according to the listing. If progression stops there, avoid rushing ahead and follow the intended route.
The Game Pass/Nexus instructions repeat the English-language, Normal-difficulty, and mission-transition cautions. These are reported caveats, not a guarantee that every player or setup will encounter the same problems.

How much of the campaign is available?
The Game Pass/Nexus page says version 1.0.3 added mission 3. That establishes that the version’s update included a third mission; it does not establish the project’s definitive total mission count, whether the campaign is complete, or how it performs on every PC configuration. The Steam Workshop entry was posted November 27, 2023 and updated February 3, 2025, but those dates alone do not establish whether development is finished or ongoing.

Should you try it?
New Covenant is most relevant if you already have MCC with ODST, are comfortable following platform-specific mod instructions, and want to try a community-created campaign with co-op. Treat the creator’s feature list as a description of what the mod aims to offer, and the Steam comments as individual reactions rather than a dependable quality score.
