Halo Studios promised a deep-dive panel at the 2025 Halo World Championship in Seattle, scheduled for early Friday afternoon on October 24. The official preview said the studio would continue its conversation from 2024’s “A New Dawn” and share more about its work—but it did not name a game or confirm what the panel ultimately disclosed.
What did Halo Studios announce for October?
Halo Studios announced a planned deep-dive panel on the Community Stage at Halo World Championship 2025. The event preview also listed a Main Stage segment, placing both appearances on Friday afternoon, October 24, in Seattle. The studio described the programming as a chance to continue its conversation with the community and share more about what it had been working on. Halo Studios’ September 2025 event update did not identify a specific game reveal.

In its June update, Halo Studios put it this way: “Speculation is always fun, but if you want the official scoop on what Halo Studios has been working on, you won’t want to miss this year’s Halo World Championship.” The June 2025 HaloWC update pointed back to the previous year’s discussion and the “A New Dawn” video.
What was confirmed—and what was speculation?
The confirmed news was the event programming and its purpose as described by the studio. The September 30, 2025 Insider Gaming report likewise reported a deep dive on October 24; it noted at the time that an exact start time and streaming platforms had not been provided. The official preview later gave the broader timing as early Friday afternoon.

Coverage at the time discussed possibilities such as a remake of Halo: Combat Evolved or a new mainline game. Those were predictions, not confirmed subjects or outcomes of the panel. The official preview does not establish what was ultimately revealed, so it would be misleading to treat either possibility as the panel’s announcement.
Why did the promise point back to “A New Dawn”?
At the 2024 Halo World Championship, 343 Industries announced that it was evolving into Halo Studios and outlined a move toward Unreal Engine 5. Its October 2024 “A New Dawn” post introduced Project Foundry, showing environments and assets such as the Pacific Northwest, the Coldlands, the Blightlands, Master Chief in Mark V armor, and the M6D Magnum.

Foundry was not a game or a tech demo. Halo Studios described it as a multidisciplinary effort to explore what Halo development in Unreal required and as a training tool for the studio’s future process. In an October 6, 2024 Xbox Wire interview, studio leaders said Unreal could support multiple new experiences and explained that Foundry tested the engine’s capabilities, development procedures, and Halo’s visual direction. Studio Art Director Chris Matthews cited the age of some existing technology, saying, “Respectfully, some components of Slipspace are almost 25 years old.”

As of October 8, 2026, Halo Studios’ official studio page calls Halo: Campaign Evolved its next currently announced project. The game page describes it as a faithful yet expanded remake of Halo: Combat Evolved, with three new missions, additional weapons and vehicles, new enemies, and four-player online co-op with cross-platform play. It also lists two-player split-screen on consoles and a digital premium edition.

That current project context should not be mistaken for proof of what the 2025 panel covered. Microsoft’s September 22, 2026 Xbox Wire update says Activision will develop the next Halo title with a purpose-built team separate from ongoing Call of Duty development, while a small Halo Studios team continues supporting the community and games already in market. The update also reports 268 roles being eliminated across Halo Studios, other first-party studios, and Xbox Game Studios management and central functions; that is a broad Microsoft figure, not a Halo Studios-only count.
