The game is a ground-up remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved campaign, available on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Steam. It adds three prequel missions and supports up to four players in online co-op.
What is Halo: Campaign Evolved?
Halo: Campaign Evolved is a remake of the campaign from Halo: Combat Evolved, not a new mainline sequel. Halo Studios describes it as a ground-up remake, with rebuilt environments, high-definition visuals, improved controls, and refined level design. Its story follows the original campaign while adding three missions set before its events, featuring Master Chief and Sergeant Avery Johnson. Halo Studios’ announcement outlines the remake’s scope.
The official materials describe a campaign experience and campaign co-op; they do not establish that the remake includes the original game’s competitive multiplayer.
When did Halo: Campaign Evolved come out?
The global release date was July 28, 2026, and early access for qualifying editions began July 23. Both dates have passed. Xbox Wire reported a global launch time of 8:00 a.m. PDT on July 28, with July 29 as the local date in Japan and select Asia-Pacific markets. Halo Waypoint’s story reveal lists the release date and early-access start; Xbox Wire’s launch announcement gives the launch-time details.

Which platforms can you play it on?
The official platforms are Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, and Steam. Xbox Wire says cross-play and shared progression are supported across the listed platforms. Halo Waypoint’s launch primer says a Microsoft account is required; PS5 and Steam players are prompted to link their platform ID to a Microsoft account for cross-platform friend access. How many missions are there, and what co-op options are available?
The campaign has 13 missions in total, including three new prequel missions. Halo Studios’ official story reveal gives the mission count; its announcement and later materials describe the co-op options.

The four-player and two-player figures are official feature counts, not player-population or performance statistics. Halo Studios’ announcement describes co-op, and the story reveal lists the 13-mission campaign.
How can you get the game?
You can look for a standalone edition on a supported platform or check Game Pass eligibility. Xbox Wire said the game was available on day one to Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers; the announcement does not say that every Game Pass tier includes it. Confirm current availability in the relevant store or subscription catalog.

Edition contents vary. The Digital Premium Edition was described as including an artbook, a short story by Troy Denning, a digital manual, and cosmetic packs. Halo Waypoint reported on June 8, 2026 that its physical Collector’s Edition had sold out. That edition included an Xbox Series X or PS5 game disc, a SteelBook, a 12-inch Master Chief statue by Dark Horse, an LED Cortana data-chip replica, three concept-art prints, and a physical manual. The sellout notice does not establish current resale prices or whether a standard physical edition is in print or in stock; check the edition and regional availability before buying.
