The studio’s official page now names Halo: Campaign Evolved as its next currently announced project; it has not identified the other projects or given their release windows.
What changed when 343 Industries became Halo Studios?
The studio announced a new name, Halo Studios, as part of wider changes to its culture, workflow, team organization, and development technology. The announcement describes a studio rebrand and an internal shift—not a change to the Halo franchise or its owner. In Xbox Wire’s October 6, 2024 interview, Studio Head Pierre Hintze described it as the start of a new chapter for the team. Halo’s announcement and the Xbox Wire interview explain the change.

Why is Halo moving to Unreal Engine 5?
Halo Studios said all future Halo projects would use Unreal Engine 5. Its leaders presented the change as a way to spend more effort making games rather than maintaining proprietary tools and engine technology, draw on capabilities already available in Unreal, and make recruiting easier because more developers are familiar with the engine. Those are the studio’s stated reasons and expectations; the announcement does not establish that the switch has produced faster development or better-performing games.
Studio leaders contrasted Unreal with Slipspace, Halo’s proprietary technology. They said maintaining that technology competed with game development and that Unreal’s broader industry familiarity could support staffing and multiple teams. Art Director Chris Matthews said some Slipspace components were “almost 25 years old”; that was his description of some components, not a measured age for the entire engine. The available statements support a comparison of development priorities, not a technical benchmark proving one engine is categorically better.

What is Project Foundry?
Project Foundry is a research and reflection project about building Halo in Unreal, and a training tool for future development. Xbox Wire explicitly described it as neither a game nor a traditional tech demo. Its footage explores visual possibilities in Unreal Engine 5; it does not confirm that particular environments, features, or scenes will appear in a released Halo title. The Xbox Wire interview gives the studio’s explanation.
How many Halo games are in development, and what has been announced?
The October 2024 announcement said multiple projects were in development, but did not name them all or specify their formats and release timing. Halo Studios’ official page, accessed October 4, 2026, identifies Halo: Campaign Evolved as its next currently announced project. That wording does not establish that it is the studio’s only project; the other projects remain undisclosed in the reviewed official materials. What does the announcement mean for Halo Infinite?
The move to Unreal Engine 5 concerns future Halo projects; it does not, by itself, announce a replacement for or shutdown of Halo Infinite. Separately, PC Gamer reported on November 7, 2025, that the game was moving toward a final planned major content update as the studio focused on other titles. That is a separate support update, not a release schedule for the unnamed projects. PC Gamer’s November 7, 2025 report covers that development.
