Has Half-Life 3 been officially announced?
As of October 8, 2026, the Valve sources reviewed do not announce Half-Life 3 or list it as a released or upcoming product. Valve’s [Half-Life catalog](https://store.steampowered.com/developer/Valve/list/ 스) includes released series games such as Half-Life 2 and Half-Life: Alyx, but no Half-Life 3 listing. A public catalog is useful evidence of what Valve currently presents to players; it is not proof that no secret project exists.

Valve’s About page acknowledges that it has games in development, saying: “We have some new games in the works, too. A couple have been announced, while others remain top secret.” The statement does not name Half-Life 3, so it cannot be treated as confirmation that a sequel is in development.
Does Half-Life 3 have a release date?
No verified release date or release window appears in the reviewed Valve sources. Dates circulating in leaks, predictions, or fan speculation are not official unless Valve confirms them. No reliable percentage or timetable for a release is established by the available sources.

Half-Life: Alyx updates
Valve’s official Alyx announcements include a September 14, 2026 update adding standalone Steam Frame gameplay support, alongside rendering and ARM64/aarch64 changes. Those are updates to Half-Life: Alyx, not an announcement of a new sequel. Valve’s catalog describes Alyx as its VR return to the series and labels it “VR Only.”
Alyx soundtrack editions
Valve also announced physical vinyl and CD editions of the Half-Life: Alyx Original Soundtrack, with releases described as coming April 24 in partnership with Ipecac Recordings. That is soundtrack news, not a game announcement.

Steam Machine coverage
A June 22, 2026 report by DSOGaming said Valve did not announce Half-Life 3 alongside its Steam Machine announcement. This is secondary, time-bounded reporting—not a current official Valve statement and not evidence of a release date.
How to judge the next Half-Life 3 claim
Leaks and fan theories can point to possibilities, but they do not establish an official announcement. To assess a new claim, check the source and what it actually says:

- Battle new alien foes.
- Drive new vehicles through new locations beyond City 17.
- Discover more about the award-winning story of Half-Life.
- Over 15 hours of award-winning single player gaming.
- Battle online with Half-Life 2: Deathmatch – included for no additional charge.
- Look for Valve’s own confirmation. A product page, announcement, or statement from Valve carries more weight than an unattributed leak or a fan interpretation.
- Separate a project claim from a date claim. Evidence that a game may be in development would not, by itself, confirm a release window.
- Check when it was published. An older report can be overtaken by a later Valve announcement—or remain only a snapshot of what was known at the time.
- Do not infer a game from hardware news. A Valve hardware announcement does not establish that Half-Life 3 is bundled with it or coming alongside it.
Which Half-Life games are currently listed?
Valve’s public Half-Life catalog lists released titles including Half-Life 2 and Half-Life: Alyx. Among the reviewed catalog entries, Alyx is the latest specifically identified released game in the series. Its VR-only label matters: it is not a conventional non-VR substitute for a hypothetical sequel.
