Sony has announced regional closures of the PS3 PlayStation Store, but says previously purchased content will remain downloadable for the foreseeable future. Playing owned games is also expected to continue, subject to each game’s online features and service availability. Some services have already ended: Netflix support on PS3 ended on March 2, 2026.
“Support” can mean Store purchases, downloads, gameplay, online features, apps, or hardware repair. Those do not all share one end date.

When will the PS3 Store close?
Sony announced the closure schedule on July 1, 2026. The timing varies by region; July 2027 is not the date for every country.
| Region | Announced timing | What changes |
|---|---|---|
| Mexico, Honduras, and Nicaragua | Closures begin in August 2026 | New PS3 Store purchases stop once the Store closes in that country. |
| Additional Latin American and Middle Eastern countries | Closures begin in late 2026 | New PS3 Store purchases stop once the Store closes in that country. |
| All other countries | July 2027 | New PS3 Store purchases stop once the Store closes in that country. |
Sony says older systems cannot support updated commerce, payment, and security requirements needed for reliable Store operation. Check your local PlayStation information for the date that applies to your country, since the schedule is regional. Sony’s July 1, 2026 announcement provides the schedule and rationale.

What happens to purchases and games you already own?
Previously purchased digital content
Sony says players can download content purchased before their region’s Store closure “for the foreseeable future.” That is not a guarantee of permanent access. Sony’s PlayStation Support notice also says previously purchased content can still be downloaded.
Playing owned content
Sony says you can continue playing content you already own, subject to each game’s existing online features and service availability. This does not mean every multiplayer mode or game server will remain available.

New purchases
After the PS3 Store closes in your region, you will no longer be able to make new purchases through that Store on the console. The announced closure schedule concerns Store access; it is not a single shutdown date for all PS3 play.

Hardware repair
The cited Sony notices do not establish a comprehensive, current PS3 repair policy across countries. Repair and parts availability may depend on your location; check the local PlayStation support channel for your console.
