No official native PC port of Super Mario Sunshine was identified in Nintendo’s reviewed release information. You can play the GameCube version on a PC through the Dolphin emulator, whose compatibility list marks it “Playable,” but that status does not guarantee the same result on every computer. Nintendo’s official re-release is in the Nintendo Switch collection Super Mario 3D All-Stars.
What platforms is Super Mario Sunshine officially available on?
Nintendo lists Super Mario Sunshine as a Nintendo GameCube game, released in the UK on 4 October 2002. Nintendo’s official later release is Super Mario 3D All-Stars for Nintendo Switch—not a PC version. The collection includes Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. Nintendo’s GameCube listing and Switch collection page identify those platforms and releases.

Can you play Super Mario Sunshine on a PC?
Yes, through emulation rather than a native port. Dolphin’s compatibility listing marks the GameCube version “Playable.” That label indicates compatibility in the emulator; it is not a Nintendo endorsement, a guarantee for your particular PC, or a promise of specific performance. The reviewed sources do not establish universal system requirements or controlled PC benchmarks. Dolphin’s compatibility list is the place to check the game’s current listing.
Dolphin is an emulator, not a copy of the game. This distinction matters: the compatibility entry does not mean the game is bundled with the emulator. Nintendo’s GameCube product page also warns that unauthorized devices or software enabling technical modification may make the game unplayable. Rules for creating or using game images can vary by jurisdiction, and the sources cited here do not establish a universal legal answer.

How does the official Switch version differ?
Nintendo European Research & Development says its GameCube emulation technology was used to bring Sunshine to Switch in Super Mario 3D All-Stars. NERD describes features including 16:9 HD rendering and updated controller bindings for Joy-Con. These are features of Nintendo’s Switch collection, not evidence of a PC port. NERD’s account of the collection explains the technology and changes.
Which route should you choose?
| Route | What it offers | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| Original GameCube | The original release on its intended console. | Look for Super Mario Sunshine for GameCube; current stock, condition and region may vary. |
| PC with Dolphin | Emulation of the GameCube version; Dolphin lists it as “Playable.” | Compatibility and results depend on the PC and configuration; the listing does not guarantee performance. |
| Nintendo Switch | The official collection Super Mario 3D All-Stars, with Sunshine and two other Mario games. | The collection’s digital sale ended in 2021; present physical availability can vary. |
Is Super Mario 3D All-Stars still available?
Nintendo released Super Mario 3D All-Stars for Switch on 18 September 2020. Nintendo said the digital version would leave the eShop on 31 March 2021, and described physical copies as available while stocks lasted. Nintendo UK says customers who bought the digital version before it left the eShop can still play and redownload it. That history does not establish current retailer stock. Nintendo of America’s notice gives the sale-end date; check Nintendo UK’s collection page for its information for prior purchasers.
