To identify one correctly, record its year, character version, manufacturer, format, release channel, condition and completeness before comparing prices.
This guide explains those categories, shows how 2026 releases are scheduled, and gives a defensible method for estimating what a Hatsune Miku figure or plush is worth.

What “Hatsune Miku figure” can mean
Hatsune Miku is a licensed character appearing in several collectible formats. The same “Racing Miku” name can refer to a large display figure, a blind-box series or other merchandise. “Snow Miku” likewise identifies a yearly design family rather than one standard size. A useful collection record therefore starts with the complete product identity, not just the character name.
Recommended Free Tools
- Character and variant: Hatsune Miku, Snow Miku, Racing Miku or another project-specific design.
- Year and edition: for example, Racing Miku 2020 Ver. or a Snow Miku design from a particular year.
- Format: scale figure, Nendoroid, non-scale blind box, prize figure or plush.
- Manufacturer and license: the company named on the box, figure base or product listing.
- Release channel: general retail, preorder, event, store promotion, lottery or made-to-order run.
These fields prevent a low-cost blind box and a numbered-looking display figure from being treated as interchangeable when you shop or value a collection.

Scale, non-scale and prize formats
Scale figures
A scale is a fixed proportion to an implied character height. Good Smile Company describes Racing Miku 2020 Ver. as a 1/8-scale figure and calls it “a scale figure of the official character of the 2020 Hatsune Miku GT Project.” A 1/8 figure is intended as a display piece: it is substantially larger than a palm-sized collectible, needs more shelf depth and usually has a higher original price. The fraction alone does not tell you the finished height, because the character’s notional height and pose affect the measurement.
Do not infer that every Racing Miku item is 1/8 scale. The Racing Miku catalog includes scale figures, blind boxes and other merchandise. Always match the year, format and manufacturer to the exact listing.
Non-scale blind boxes
“Non-scale” means the item is not marketed to a fixed proportional measurement. Good Smile’s Snow Miku All Stars Vol. 1 is described as painted plastic, non-scale and palm-sized, with eight figures representing even-numbered years from 2010 through 2024. Vol. 2 covers eight odd-numbered designs from 2011 through 2025. The figures are designed as a series rather than as a proportionally accurate counterpart to a 1/8 statue.
Blind-box packaging adds a collecting variable: you may not know which design is inside until opening it. A single blind box can be inexpensive compared with a scale figure, while a complete set costs more and may require trading or buying duplicates. The product’s sealed status and whether a listing contains one box or all eight are essential valuation details.

Nendoroids
Nendoroids are compact, stylized figures with distinctive proportions and interchangeable parts. They are a separate category from both scale figures and prize figures. A 2026 buying guide places indicative Japan prices for Nendoroids around ¥5,000–¥7,000. That range is an orientation for buying, not a guaranteed resale price; release age, accessories, exclusivity and condition can move an individual item far outside it.
Prize figures
SEGA and Taito prize figures are generally distributed through amusement-prize channels rather than the same preorder system used for many scale releases. The 2026 guide gives an indicative Japan range of ¥1,500–¥3,500. Prize status does not automatically mean poor quality or low demand, but it does mean the original channel and package markings should be recorded when comparing sales.
Plush
Plush is its own collecting category. Good Smile lists “Plushie Hatsune Miku MIKU EXPO 2023 VR -Costume Contest Grand Prize Design-,” an event-linked design that is not interchangeable with a PVC or ABS figure. For plush, inspect fabric condition, tags, odor, storage history and whether the original event packaging or accessories remain. A plush can be scarce without commanding the same prices as a large scale figure, so use plush-specific sold comparisons.
Snow Miku and Racing Miku release families
Snow Miku All Stars
The Snow Miku All Stars boxes organize past designs into two complementary releases. Vol. 1 contains eight even-year designs from 2010, 2012 and subsequent even years through 2024. Vol. 2 contains eight odd-year designs from 2011 through 2025. Good Smile’s product copy presents them as palm-sized figures of Snow Miku characters released from 2010 to 2025.

The 2026 listings show preorder periods with shipping scheduled for February 2027. A preorder window is the period in which an order is accepted; it is not the month the item arrives. In a spreadsheet, keep separate columns for order date, stated ship month, retailer bonus and whether the run is made-to-order or limited.
Racing Miku
Racing Miku designs are tied to the Hatsune Miku GT Project, but the line spans multiple formats. Racing Miku 2020 Ver. is a 1/8-scale example. Racing Miku All Stars Vol. 2 is an eight-design blind-box release covering 2011 through 2025. Its listed price is ¥17,600 for the box, with a 2026 preorder window and shipping scheduled for May 2027.
Because “Racing Miku” is a family name, it is not a valuation grade. A 1/8 figure from one year, an eight-piece box and a prize item can have completely different original prices and secondary-market demand. Write down the exact year and product title before searching completed sales.
How to read release timing and exclusivity
Exclusivity describes how an item entered the market, not whether it will appreciate. Relevant channels include event-exclusive, store-exclusive, promotional, lottery and made-to-order releases. A limited channel can reduce supply, while a made-to-order period can produce more units than collectors expect. “Sold out” only says that a particular listing or allocation is no longer available; it does not prove that the resale price will rise.

Use a release record with these fields:
- Preorder opening and closing dates, including the time zone if stated.
- Expected shipping month and the date you actually receive the item.
- Original retailer or event and any retailer bonus part.
- Made-to-order, limited, standard retail or prize distribution status.
- Whether the item was purchased new, opened for inspection or displayed.
For example, the Snow Miku All Stars listings show 2026 preorders for February 2027 shipping, while Racing Miku All Stars Vol. 2 shows October–November 2026 preorders for May 2027 shipping. Those dates describe ordering and fulfillment, not a promise that every retailer will dispatch on the same day.
Indicative prices versus resale value
Original Japanese guide prices help distinguish categories but should not be used as an appraisal. The following figures are the 2026 guide’s indicative Japan bands, plus listed examples from current product pages.
| Format or example | Published figure | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Nendoroid | About ¥5,000–¥7,000 | Indicative Japan buying range; not a resale guarantee. |
| Scale figure | About ¥15,000–¥40,000+ | Broad guide range; size, sculpt, year and exclusivity create large differences. |
| SEGA/Taito prize figure | About ¥1,500–¥3,500 | Indicative prize-market range, not a universal price. |
| Racing Miku All Stars Vol. 2 | ¥17,600 for the eight-design box | Listed product price; 2026 preorder with May 2027 shipping. |
| Single blind box example | ¥2,200 where listed | Compare one sealed box with one sealed box, not with a complete set or opened figure. |
A collector report based on closed Yahoo Auctions listings identified promotional, event-exclusive, store-exclusive and made-to-order items as a high-price segment and reported a ¥41,250 median for its selected top-50 sample. That is a selected sample, not a market-wide index. It can show that scarce releases trade differently, but it cannot establish the value of your specific item.
Step-by-step method to estimate a figure or plush’s value
- Transcribe the identity. Photograph the front, back, underside, copyright line, barcode and any certificate. Record the complete title, character variant, year, manufacturer and format.
- Separate the exact release from similar versions. Check sculpt, costume, base, box art and accessory layout. “Snow Miku 2018” or “Racing Miku” alone is too broad for a reliable comparison.
- Search completed sales. Use sold or closed listings rather than asking prices. Search the title in the original language where possible, then add terms such as sealed, opened, complete, box damage or missing parts.
- Filter by condition. Keep sealed, opened-and-complete, displayed, damaged, incomplete and counterfeit-suspect examples in separate groups.
- Record delivered economics. Note sale price, shipping, import charges, marketplace fees and currency-conversion costs. A buyer’s delivered cost and a seller’s net proceeds are different numbers.
- Adjust for completeness and provenance. Original box, all alternate faces or hands, bonus parts, tags and proof of purchase can materially affect demand. Record repairs, fading, yellowing, stains, loose joints and smoke or pet exposure.
- Calculate a range. Use several genuinely comparable closed sales, remove obvious outliers and report a low-to-high range. State confidence as high when many close matches exist, medium when versions or conditions differ slightly, and low when sales are sparse.
For example, an opened 1/8 figure with its box and every accessory should not be averaged with a sealed copy or a figure missing a bonus part. A complete blind-box set should be compared with another complete set, while an individual opened design belongs in a separate group.

Authenticity, condition and storage checks
Authenticity
Compare the logo, copyright text, paint application, seams, base markings, box print quality and manufacturer information with photographs from an official product listing. A suspiciously low price, inconsistent packaging or vague “no box” description warrants caution. Keep the purchase receipt, order confirmation and seller details; provenance is especially useful for event and store exclusives.
Condition
Use precise, repeatable descriptions rather than “like new.” State whether the item is sealed, opened but never displayed, displayed in a cabinet, or played with. Note missing blister trays, crushed corners, sun exposure, paint transfer, sticky plastic, fabric pulls, detached parts and odor. For plush, photograph tags and seams; for articulated figures, check every joint and replacement part.
Storage
Keep figures away from direct sunlight, heat and high humidity. Support large parts during storage, avoid pressure on thin accessories and retain the original box and protective inserts. Store plush clean and dry, without compressing delicate costumes or embroidered details. Good storage protects condition, but it does not turn a common release into a scarce one.

- Confirm the unit count: one blind box, an unopened display box or all eight designs are different purchases.
- Check the delivery stage: a preorder with a 2027 ship month is not in-stock inventory.
- Compare delivered totals: include shipping, import costs and platform fees before deciding that one listing is cheaper.
- Verify bonuses: a retailer-exclusive face, base or accessory must be present if the listing claims the bonus version.
- Inspect seller evidence: request photos of the actual box and copyright markings for expensive or discontinued items.
- Keep an exit plan: buy because you want the design, not because “sold out” is being presented as a profit forecast.
Are Hatsune Miku figures worth collecting?
They can be, if your definition of value includes enjoyment, design history and the ability to display a coherent series. Scale figures reward collectors who want a centerpiece and can provide stable storage. Nendoroids and prize figures offer lower entry costs and easier rotation. Snow Miku and Racing Miku blind boxes let you follow many years of designs in a compact format, but duplicates and completion costs are part of the experience. Plush adds event and costume history while requiring different care.
For financial decisions, treat every item as uncertain inventory. Track the exact release, total purchase cost and condition from day one; revisit completed sales only when you are actually considering a sale. A documented range with a confidence level is more useful than a single optimistic number.
