Blizzard acknowledged specific Hearthstone reconnect incidents in forum posts dated December 2019 and February 2022. Those posts document separate historical reports—not a continuous outage—and do not establish whether the problem is active today. If you see “You were disconnected from your last game. Reconnecting,” the dated suggestions below may help you decide what to try, but they are not confirmation of a current fix.
What Blizzard acknowledged—and when
On December 10, 2019, after the Descent of Dragons release, Blizzard forum representative Metalagon wrote, “We are aware of this issue and investigating the cause, and will get it resolved as soon as possible.” Later that evening, support representative Caterpepi said Blizzard had made changes on its end and asked affected players to restart Hearthstone. One player subsequently reported that restarting worked. This was an update about that particular 2019 episode, not a current status announcement. Blizzard forum thread, December 10, 2019
A separate thread on December 24, 2019 framed the reports differently. Caterpepi described a potential account issue that might need individual handling: “With this being a potential account issue, this may need to be handled through individual cases.” Blizzard forum thread, December 24, 2019
On February 20, 2022, forum representative Kershew said Blizzard had seen a couple of reports and that the connection issues reported the prior week should have been resolved. Kershew added, “So we have seen a couple of reports but nothing widespread.” That qualitative description referred to reports known at the time; Blizzard did not give a player count. The threads concern separate reports in different years. They do not show that the same cause recurred, and none establishes Hearthstone’s current service status.
What to try if Hearthstone is stuck reconnecting
The steps below are historical suggestions posted by Blizzard representatives in those threads. They are not a verified current support procedure, and Blizzard did not promise that any one step would work for every player.

December 24, 2019: wait for the attempt to fail, then reset the game state
- Exit Hearthstone and the Blizzard application.
- Log in again and wait for the reconnect attempt to reach the “Could not reconnect” state.
- Start a Solo or Practice match, then concede it.
- Restart Hearthstone and check whether the affected match or mode is accessible.
Caterpepi also suggested using Scan and Repair, clearing Blizzard-related files from Windows temporary and application-data folders, and trying a new Windows administrator account. The file-cleanup and administrator-account suggestions were Windows guidance in that 2019 thread; they should not be treated as universal steps for other operating systems. February 20, 2022: test another device or an accessible mode
- Try a different device.
- Leave the reconnecting screen untouched for up to 30 minutes.
- If other modes still work, try a Solo Adventure match, then retry the affected mode.
These were workarounds offered for reports being discussed in February 2022, not a guarantee or a statement about today’s incident scale. Blizzard forum thread, February 20, 2022

How to tell an individual stuck match from a wider incident
A reconnect loop in one match does not by itself show that Hearthstone is broadly down. The 2019 post described an issue Blizzard was investigating and a later server-side change; the 2022 response described a couple of reports and said they were not widespread at that time. Neither thread quantified affected players, and neither can confirm a current incident.
Use the historical advice as troubleshooting rather than as a live outage report. If the issue continues, consult Blizzard’s current official support or service-status communications for information that applies now, and contact Customer Support for an account-specific case. The cited forum posts alone cannot tell you whether Blizzard is currently investigating or fixing a reconnect problem.
