The event ran from July 11 at 06:00 until August 22 at 05:59 server time. This archive explains every Splash Whale photo target, the event wildlife and materials, the entry requirements, and which features may have remained after the timed season.
The most important distinction is in the word “catch”: Splash Whales were decorative figures for the camera, not fish caught with a rod. Each of the 16 whales unlocked in sequence, and each required its own photo plus a separate reward-bubble pickup.

What Call of Whales was
Call of Whales added an underwater Fashionwave season centered on Whalefall Canyon. Its content included the Ocean Cleanup hobby, the Seamount underwater home, seasonal collections and rewards, a Memory Journal, a Fashionwave Store and a concert. The event entry is now marked ended, so the instructions below are an archive guide rather than a promise that the same routes, rewards or menus are available on a current server.
Dates are server time: July 11, 2026, at 06:00 through August 22, 2026, at 05:59. Community event pages also warn that availability and navigation can differ by server. If you are checking an older save or a later game update, use the live in-game event panel as the authority for what remains accessible.

Entry requirements and route access
The archived event panel lists D.G. Member Level 7 and a main-story requirement. It directs players to follow the route into Whalefall Canyon from that panel. Because the season has ended, archived prompts may no longer appear exactly as described.
For the whale collection specifically, the Heartopia.Life route directory says to enter Whalefall Canyon, complete Naughty’s prerequisite whale quest (called “The Big Whale and the Little Whale” in some regions), and then activate the photo objective. Earlier whales could be caught up after their scheduled release, according to that guide, so a missed day did not necessarily make the collection impossible while the event was live.
How the Splash Whale hunt worked
- Enter Whalefall Canyon and finish the prerequisite whale quest.
- Activate the Splash Whale photo objective.
- Visit the landmark for the whale released on the relevant server-time day.
- Photograph the decorative whale until the objective registers.
- Search nearby for that whale’s separate reward bubble and open it. Taking the picture alone did not collect the reward.
- Check the Memory Journal or event collection page to confirm the entry before moving on.
The whales were visual landmarks, not rod-fishing targets. Their colors and nearby structures are more useful for navigation than trying to search the water for a catch prompt.

If a whale is not visible
- Confirm that the server has reached the whale’s release sequence.
- Check that Naughty’s prerequisite quest and the photo objective are complete.
- Look for the whale at the landmark rather than in open water; these are decorative figures placed around structures and coral.
- After a successful photo, inspect the surrounding coral, gate, cave or skeleton for the reward bubble.
- Use the current event panel or map if your server’s route differs from the archive.

The guide cautions that not every species found in Whale Sea should automatically be treated as event-limited. Use the event tag or the game’s collection database where available, especially when a species appears in ordinary exploration areas.

Six birds are listed for the event:
- Wandering Albatross
- Grey-mantled Albatross
- White Spoonbill
- Roseate Spoonbill, also called Pink Spoonbill
- White-winged Tern
- Pomarine Skua
Dolphin is identified as a seasonal visiting animal, while Starfruit is identified as the event crop.
Cooking materials and recipes
Named cooking materials associated with the season include Glasswort, Sea Grape, Wakame, Spirulina Powder, Scallop, Japanese Flying Squid and Starfruit. Heartodex’s event-linked recipe references include:

- Several jam-topped grilled squid variants
- Ocean Feast
- Starfruit Jam
- Multiple Pearl Cake variants
- Tomato Seafood Soup
The exact variant names and acquisition methods should be checked against the in-game recipe records for the server or edition being played. These are community-database content counts, not official publisher statistics. The database’s “fish” label is a category label and should not be read as a biological classification of every sea-life entry. Likewise, the total of 40 linked content entries is an inventory figure, not a measure of player activity or event performance.

Timed content versus features described as permanent
The archive separates the timed Fashionwave season, store and rewards from additions described as longer-lasting. Ocean Cleanup is specifically described in the update log and community archive as permanent. Whalefall Canyon and the Seamount home were introduced with the season, but the cited references do not guarantee that every associated activity, NPC route or item remained unchanged after August 22.
If you are returning after the event, check whether:
- Whalefall Canyon still appears on the current world map.
- Ocean Cleanup is available as a hobby rather than a seasonal task.
- The Seamount home can still be selected or visited.
- The Fashionwave Store, Memory Journal pages and reward claims are still open.
- The sea-life and recipe entries retain their event tags.
Do not assume that a feature described as permanent has identical rewards or progression in a later update.

- Reach the required D.G. Member Level 7 and complete the displayed story prerequisite.
- Finish Naughty’s whale quest.
- Activate the photo objective in Whalefall Canyon.
- Register all 16 Splash Whale photographs.

- Check the six event birds.

Common mistakes
Trying to fish for a Splash Whale
There is no rod catch for these targets. They are photographic decorations positioned at landmarks.

The reward bubble is a separate interaction. A completed photo does not prove that the associated reward was collected.
Assuming every Whale Sea species is seasonal
The collection guide explicitly warns against treating every local species as event-limited. Use event tags and the current database.
Following an old route without checking the server
The archived guide records a completed route, but event panels and navigation prompts can vary by region and later updates. Use the landmark descriptions together with the live map when available.
What players could get from Fashionwave
The season tied its rewards to the Fashionwave Store, seasonal collections, the Memory Journal and the whale-photo route. A player question about “all the items you could buy in the fashion wave” reflects that the store and collection rewards were separate parts of the event. The available sources do not provide a verified, complete catalog of every store item, price or exchange requirement, so an item-by-item shopping list would risk overstating what is known.

Call of Whales after August 22, 2026
Call of Whales itself is an ended event. The safest way to revisit it is as an archive: use the 16-whale table for route orientation, the wildlife and recipe lists as collection cross-checks, and the current in-game panel to determine whether Whalefall Canyon, Ocean Cleanup, Seamount and any journal or reward claims remain available. Community guides are valuable for landmarks and item names, but they are not a substitute for the current server state.
