What the launch trailer is showing
In Heartworm, Sam is struggling to move on after her grandfather’s death. An online forum points her toward a remote mountain house said to be supernatural, where she hopes to contact the other side. The game’s official site describes its presentation as low-resolution retro 3D and cinematic fixed-camera survival horror, while Nintendo’s listing frames it as a modern take on 1990s survival horror. Heartworm’s official site names Silent Hill, Resident Evil, and Dino Crisis as inspirations; that is the developer’s stated influence, not a claim that the games play alike.
The trailer is a console-launch trailer, not an announcement of a physical cartridge. Nintendo lists the Switch 2 release as a digital edition, dated October 1, 2026. Nintendo’s US product listing has the edition and platform details; Nintendo Everything’s October 2 report covers the trailer and console launch.

Combat is limited and camera-based
Sam uses a camera as a weapon, but combat is presented as a restrained part of the experience rather than its focus. Nintendo’s description emphasizes solving mysteries alongside defending yourself.

How long is Heartworm?
Nintendo estimates 4–6 hours of gameplay and notes multiple endings. That is the platform listing’s estimate, not an independently measured completion time. Nintendo’s listing does not specify how much longer it takes to see every ending.

Nintendo also cautions that save data is not compatible between the Switch 2 and Nintendo Switch versions. The Switch 2 listing names Nintendo Switch 2 as the system; its note about accessories for Switch Lite compatibility applies to the original Switch context, not as a stated Switch 2 requirement.

Is it also on PC?
Yes. The official site links to the PC version, and Steam lists its release as July 31, 2025, with Vincent Adinolfi as developer and DreadXP as publisher. Steam’s Heartworm page provides the PC store listing. The available Switch 2 information confirms a digital console edition; it does not establish a physical release.
