Difficulty 9, Helldive, rewards squads that make deliberate choices under pressure. These five tips focus on scouting, faction- and mission-aware equipment, teamwork, spacing, and adapting as objectives change. They apply across factions without assuming there is one universally best loadout. Level 10, Super Helldive, is a separate higher difficulty, not another name for level 9.
1. Scan the map before committing to a route
Pause long enough to orient the squad before moving toward the next objective. Xbox’s general boot-camp advice recommends using the minimap to scope out enemy nests, tactical objectives, points of interest, and useful materials. That is a useful scouting habit, not a level-9 route guarantee.

Agree on a destination and a reasonable route before engaging anything that might draw more enemies. A quick shared plan can help the team avoid wandering in different directions or spending time on a detour that does not serve the current objective. Xbox Wire’s Helldivers 2 tips also recommends building up through lower difficulties as players learn.
2. Match equipment to the faction and mission
Choose tools for the enemies and objective in front of you rather than copying a fixed “best” build. Arrowhead’s guidance is explicit: “We don’t want a one size fits all loadout for any Faction, you should always need to consider what you’re about to engage with.” The source does not establish a universally optimal level-9 setup.

Before deploying, consider what the squad needs to handle, the range and area coverage its equipment offers, each player’s role, and whether several players are bringing overlapping tools. These are decision points, not proof that a particular weapon or combination is best. Balance changes can also alter how a setup performs, so consult current official patch notes when making patch-specific decisions. Arrowhead’s official Steam announcements document changes to enemy pressure, mission waves, and spawning.
3. Coordinate targets and area attacks
Helldivers 2 is built around squads of up to four, and its official description warns that friendly fire is a certainty. Call out priority targets, tell teammates before using area attacks, and check where allies are before firing or throwing a strike. These are practical habits for reducing avoidable team damage, not a promise that every attack can be made safe.

Keep communication short and useful: identify the target, the intended attack, and any immediate danger to a teammate. If a teammate is crossing a firing line or approaching the strike area, pause when possible rather than assuming they have seen your action. PlayStation’s game description highlights both squad play and friendly fire.

Spacing is a balance, not a rule to remain tightly packed or to split up automatically. Arrowhead has described enemy pressure and distance as factors in balancing spawns among separated players, including nearby spawns under some conditions. That does not mean splitting up always brings more enemies, or that staying together always prevents trouble.

Keep the team within practical support distance for the situation, and make a plan for regrouping if someone becomes isolated. If pressure separates the squad, communicate where you are and decide whether to reconnect or continue toward the objective together; do not let a temporary separation silently become four unrelated routes.
5. Reassess when the mission or pressure changes
Do not assume the opening plan will remain right for the whole mission. PlayStation’s update summary describes large-scale urban warfare and high-threat objectives, while Arrowhead’s announcements document adjustments to mission waves and enemy spawning. An objective or encounter can change what the squad needs to prioritize, so reassess the route, roles, and immediate threats as conditions shift.
Level 9 advice should not be confused with level 10 Super Helldive, which PlayStation identifies as a higher difficulty. The official material cited here offers broad tactics and patch descriptions, not a complete current level-9 enemy roster or fixed spawn rules. For exact mechanics that may change, check the latest official patch announcements.
