When did Helldivers 2 come to Xbox?
Xbox Wire announced the Xbox release on July 3, 2025, with the game launching on Xbox Series X|S on August 26, 2025. Standard and Super Citizen editions were offered for preorder. The date is in the past: Helldivers 2 is now listed for Xbox alongside PlayStation and PC on the official PlayStation product page.
At announcement, game director Mikael Eriksson said, “We know gamers have been asking for this for some time and we are so excited to bring more Helldivers into our game.” His full statement appeared in the Xbox Wire release announcement.
Is Helldivers 2 on Xbox Series S, and does it support cross-play?
The announced Xbox platform is Xbox Series X|S, which includes Series S. Xbox Wire says cross-play is supported across all platforms, so Xbox players can squad up with players on PlayStation and PC. That statement concerns multiplayer compatibility; it does not confirm cross-progression or shared purchases.

What kind of game is Helldivers 2?
Helldivers 2 is a cooperative third-person shooter built around missions in an evolving Galactic War. A squad can include up to four players: you and as many as three squadmates. Players coordinate loadouts, choose how to approach objectives, and call in stratagems during combat. Xbox describes the wider war as a real-time metagame in which players work together on operations and planet liberation.
What is included in the Super Citizen Edition?
Xbox Wire confirmed that the Xbox preorder came in Standard and Super Citizen editions, but its announcement did not list the Xbox edition’s individual bonuses. The official PlayStation US product page lists these Super Citizen Edition contents:

The Helldivers 2 x Halo: ODST Legendary Warbond was announced for August 26, 2025, the Xbox launch date. Xbox Wire described it as an optional collection containing four weapons, two armor sets, capes, player cards, a player title, and a vehicle pattern.

At announcement, the Warbond cost 1,500 Super Credits, which Xbox Wire said could be found in-game or purchased separately. Warbonds are accessed through the in-game Acquisitions Center, unlock their contents gradually through play, and do not expire. Sony Interactive Entertainment reported that more than 22.9 million players had been welcomed to Helldivers 2 across PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC as of August 9, 2026. This is a publisher-reported player count, not a number of copies sold.
