Arrowhead’s February 11, 2024 update did not say the Helldivers 2 reward problem was fully fixed: it called the fix “mitigated but not resolved.” The studio’s February 12 follow-up said it believed future mission rewards were fixed based on its testing, while it continued monitoring. The “after some sleep” line was a sign-off before the team returned to work—not an announcement that the incident was over.
What was happening with Helldivers 2 servers and rewards?
On February 11, 2024, Arrowhead Game Studios said it had deployed three rapid fixes aimed at missing rewards, login failures and server capacity. The studio linked reward-tracking problems to high server traffic. Players were also seeing the “Failed to connect to server” login error when login requests exceeded a per-minute limit or servers were full.

Arrowhead reported increasing its service rate limit from 10,000 to 20,000 requests per minute and raising concurrent-player capacity from 250,000 to 360,000. These are figures reported by the developer, not independently audited measurements. Even the higher capacity filled rapidly: Arrowhead said the servers reached 360,000 players after five and a half minutes. Read Arrowhead’s February 11 server update on Steam.
What did “after some sleep” mean?
Signing the February 11 update, Johan wrote that the reward fix was “mitigated but not resolved.” He said additional server maintenance would be needed and suggested rebooting the game to increase the chance of resetting the problem. That was contemporaneous guidance for the incident, not a verified current troubleshooting recommendation.

Johan closed by saying the team needed to sleep and would return to the work in a few hours. The remark explained why the developers were stepping away temporarily; it was not a technical fix, a claim that the servers were stable, or confirmation that rewards had been restored.
How did Arrowhead’s February 12 update change the status?
The next day, Arrowhead announced patch 01.000.005. Its status was more optimistic than the previous day’s, but it remained specific to the fixes and the studio’s assessment at that point:

The most accurate answer is that Arrowhead moved from describing the issue as only mitigated on February 11 to saying on February 12 that it believed future mission rewards were fixed based on its testing, while continuing to monitor. The announcements do not support the broader claim that every server problem was resolved, nor do they establish that the same incident continued afterward.

Arrowhead’s known-issues page, updated October 7, 2026, does not list the February 2024 missing mission-rewards incident. The page says its list is not exhaustive and that ongoing crashes, performance and connectivity problems may not be listed, so its omission does not prove that all connectivity or reward issues are absent today. A later patch documented a separate problem in which some players did not immediately receive Super Credit purchases under heavy server load; that does not establish that the 2024 mission-reward incident persisted.
