What’s included in Heretic + Hexen?
Bethesda’s product listing names five playable entries in the collection:
- Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders
- Hexen: Beyond Heretic
- Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel
- Heretic: Faith Renewed, a newly created episode
- Hexen: Vestiges of Grandeur, a newly created episode
The package therefore combines the original games and expansion content with two new episodes, rather than offering only an updated presentation of the older releases. Bethesda’s product page lists the included content.
What changed in the remaster?
Nightdive describes the collection as an enhanced restoration, with expanded platform and language access and added accessibility features. PlayStation’s launch coverage also highlights accessibility and quality-of-life improvements. The official descriptions establish those additions, but do not provide a platform-by-platform feature comparison.

Optional enhanced soundtrack and Raven Vault
The Tome of Power soundtrack can be toggled, letting players choose whether to use its enhanced music. The collection also includes behind-the-scenes material in the Raven Vault, according to PlayStation.Blog’s launch article.
Does Heretic + Hexen support crossplay and split-screen?
Yes. Nightdive describes online cross-platform deathmatch and co-op for up to 16 players. Bethesda also lists local split-screen multiplayer, but the supported local player count varies by platform. The published information confirms the modes and online-player ceiling; it does not establish identical feature support or performance across every platform. Which platforms is Heretic + Hexen available on?
Bethesda lists Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and PC platforms, as well as Game Pass access, which requires a subscription. Bethesda also states that cross-platform play is available. Nintendo UK lists the Switch download release date as 7 August 2025. The Nintendo UK listing is specific to that region; check your local storefront for current availability, price, and subscription terms.
PC storefront features
Steam lists the release date as August 7, 2025, and identifies Steam achievements, Steam Cloud, and Remote Play Together. Its listing also categorizes the game as supporting online and local multiplayer. These are Steam-listed features, not a guarantee that every other PC storefront offers the same integrations. Choosing a platform
The main practical differences to check before buying or starting are the platform’s local split-screen player limit, your preferred input setup, and whether you already have access through a storefront or Game Pass.
