The game is currently available on PC through Steam and Microsoft Store Game Preview, according to Ubisoft’s May 2026 roadmap.
When did Olden Era come out?
Olden Era is out now in Early Access. Steam lists April 30, 2026 as its Early Access release date, and Ubisoft’s May 2026 roadmap also gives April 30 as the launch date. Ubisoft describes it as available on PC through Steam or Microsoft Store Game Preview. Ubisoft’s May 2026 roadmap and the Steam listing provide the current release details.

So the Q2 2025 date in the original announcement is obsolete: the game did not launch in that window, or in the revised summer 2025 window.
What kind of game is Olden Era?
Ubisoft introduced Olden Era as a prequel set before the first Heroes of Might and Magic, in the world of Enroth and on the continent of Jadame. It combines strategic exploration—moving a hero across a map to find resources, build towns and castles, and assemble armies—with turn-based tactical battles. The reveal highlighted hexagonal battlefields, faction-specific abilities, hero skills and spells, unit abilities, and bonuses earned from combinations of equipped artifacts. The Gamescom announcement describes those systems; the Steam page presents the game as a turn-based strategy prequel with solo and multiplayer play.

Ubisoft Brand Director Eric Damian-Vernet called Heroes of Might and Magic III “a cult classic and one of the greatest strategy games of all time, perfecting and refining the already great formula established in Heroes I and II.” Unfrozen Narrative Lead Alexandra “Alphyna” Golubeva described the three layers—“strategic exploration, tactical battles, and RPG-lite character building”—as supporting different playstyles, from exploration to battles with friends. Both comments appeared in Ubisoft’s 2024 reveal.
What can you play in Early Access?
The current Steam description calls the Early Access version fully playable. It lists six factions, three game modes, single-player and multiplayer, the opening act of the narrative campaign, a map editor, and scenarios with self-contained stories. Ubisoft’s May 2026 roadmap likewise describes six factions, single-player and multiplayer modes, and turn-based combat, strategy, and exploration. See the Steam page and Ubisoft roadmap.

Is the full campaign available?
No. The Steam description identifies the opening act as the campaign content in Early Access and lists all campaign acts among the plans for the full version. Steam also lists additional scenarios and map templates, improvements to the editor, and an Underground map layer as planned full-version additions. These are plans, not confirmation that the features have shipped. Steam’s Early Access description estimates roughly a year in Early Access, but explicitly says that schedule could change based on design decisions and player feedback; it is not a confirmed full-release date.
What has Ubisoft said is planned next?
Ubisoft’s May 2026 roadmap separates player-feedback-inspired work from broader Early Access and longer-term goals. The roadmap says its items can change as the game evolves, so treat them as intentions rather than a delivery schedule. Ubisoft’s roadmap lists:

How has the launch performed?
