Heroes of Might and Magic: Olden Era entered Early Access on April 30, 2026. Ubisoft had originally targeted the first half of 2025 for its Steam Early Access release, but that window was superseded. The game is now available for PC through Steam and the Microsoft Store’s Game Preview program. Ubisoft’s May 28, 2026 roadmap confirms the launch date and storefronts; Steam’s listing also gives April 30, 2026 as the release date.

When did Olden Era enter Early Access?

Ubisoft first announced the game at Gamescom with a planned Steam Early Access release in the first half of 2025. That was an announcement-era target, not the final launch date. The game actually launched on April 30, 2026, as confirmed by Steam and Ubisoft’s May 28, 2026 roadmap.

Ubisoft reported that the game sold 250,000 copies in its first 24 hours and passed one million copies in its first month. Those are company-reported figures in its roadmap announcement, not independently audited sales totals. Ubisoft roadmap

What platforms is Olden Era on?

Ubisoft identifies two PC storefront options: Steam and the Microsoft Store through Game Preview. The cited availability information does not establish a console version. Ubisoft roadmap

What does Early Access include?

The game is a prequel set in Jadame, built around the series’ turn-based strategy mix of adventure-map exploration, gathering resources, developing towns and castles, assembling armies, tactical battles, and hero progression. Ubisoft’s original announcement

Steam describes the current Early Access version as including:

Rank #2
Might & Magic Heroes VII Deluxe Edition - PC
  • The Deluxe Edition contains an exclusive hero, a scenario map, the full digital soundtrack and Heroes III - HD Edition
  • Develop and manage your economy
  • Lead armies of legendary creatures to battle
  • Build up Heroes of Might & Magic with hundreds of abilities and powerful artifacts
  • Six factions and three game modes.
  • Solo and multiplayer play.
  • The opening act of the narrative campaign.
  • A map editor and self-contained story scenarios.

These are features listed for the current version, not promises that the campaign is already complete. Steam Early Access description

What is planned, and when will the full game arrive?

Steam says the developers estimate about one year in Early Access, while warning that the schedule may change with design decisions and player feedback. That estimate is not a confirmed full-release date. Steam’s listed aims for the full version include additional scenarios and map templates, editor improvements, an Underground map layer, and all acts of the narrative campaign. Rank #3
Heroes of Might & Magic 4 - PC
  • Bring hero-characters into battle as super-soldiers in your army
  • More than 140 hours of gameplay and 6 unique campaigns
  • 11 starting Hero classes, 37 advanced classes
  • All-new magic system
  • Control up to 8 armies

Ubisoft’s roadmap, published May 28, 2026, groups further development goals across several areas:

  • Planned updates: teamplay, hero-skill rebalancing, random-map-generator improvements, observer mode, an Elite Class rework, and matchmaking improvements.
  • General goals: Underground Terrain, map-editor improvements, and an Ironman campaign mode.
  • Longer-term plans: completing the single-player campaign, map sharing, and a new PvE mode.

These are roadmap items, and Ubisoft says they can change as development evolves. They should not be read as a delivery schedule. Ubisoft roadmap

Buy now or wait?

Early Access suits players who want to play the available modes and scenarios while the game develops. Waiting makes more sense for anyone whose main priority is a complete narrative campaign: only its opening act is currently listed, while the remaining acts are planned for the full version. The store description also says the game is unfinished and may change; Ubisoft’s roadmap is explicitly subject to change. Steam Early Access description Ubisoft roadmap
