Hestu’s location changes as you progress through The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. Look first along the path near Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower, northwest of Lookout Landing. After the initial encounter, check Lookout Landing; later, once Korok Forest is accessible, he relocates there.
Where to find Hestu at each stage
| Progression stage | Where to look | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| First encounter | Along the path near Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower, northwest of Lookout Landing | Nintendo lists -1681, 1052, 0184 as a guide coordinate, while Nintendo Life gives the nearby approximate area as -1700, 1068, 0200. Treat both as area pointers, not exact standing positions. |
| After the first encounter | Lookout Landing | Check inside the settlement if Hestu has moved on. His precise spot within town can vary. |
| Later progression | Korok Forest | He relocates here once you have access to the forest. If you have already unlocked Musanokir Shrine, it provides a convenient warp point. |
How to find him near Lindor’s Brow
From Lookout Landing, head northwest toward Lindor’s Brow Skyview Tower and search the road or path around the tower. The two published coordinate estimates are close but not identical, so use the landmark and surrounding path to find him rather than expecting him to stand on one exact coordinate. Nintendo’s official Tears of the Kingdom guide gives the early-game coordinate.
At this first meeting, Hestu is frightened by nearby living trees. Help him by dealing with the tree enemies, then speak to him. Nintendo Life’s guide describes fire or sharp weapons as useful approaches for those enemies; this is practical guide advice, not an official Nintendo instruction. The encounter completes the Side Adventure Hestu’s Concerns and opens the Korok Seed exchange.
Why Hestu may not be where you last saw him
Hestu moves as you advance, so an empty spot near Lindor’s Brow does not necessarily mean you have missed him. After the first encounter, Lookout Landing is the next place to check. Nintendo UK says he heads east-southward toward a more populated place after you expand your inventory a couple of times; Nintendo Life also places him in Lookout Landing after the initial encounter and/or inventory upgrades. He may stand in different parts of the settlement.

Later, after you gain access to Korok Forest, look for him there. Nintendo Life identifies the forest as his later location, but does not establish one exact coordinate for every save state. Game8 also lists Korok Forest as a later stop after helping the Deku Tree, though its page was not fully accessible for verification.

Hestu trades Korok Seeds for additional inventory slots for weapons, bows, and shields. Nintendo’s official guide puts it plainly: “Giving the Korok seeds to a tree fairy, Hestu, will increase your inventory space for weapons, shields, and bows.” You find Korok Seeds by finding or helping Koroks.

- Ultrahand: Using the new Ultrahand ability, Link can pick up, move, and rotate almost any object, and can even attach objects together to create bridges, vehicles, and more!
- Fuse: Magically fuse almost any object to Link’s current weapon, shield, or arrow to increase durability, damage, or even add a new effect. Experiment with lots of different combinations to come up with surprising—and sometimes hilarious—results!
- Ascend: Add a new dimension to your exploration with Ascend, which gives Link the ability to pass through solid objects above him. Rise up through ceilings, hillsides, and even certain enemies to create seemingly impossible shortcuts.
- Recall: Use Recall to make objects in motion move backward through time, letting Link ride fallen boulders skyward, recover thrown weapons, or send projectiles back where they came from.
Once you locate Hestu, use a map pin or stamp to mark the relevant area. That makes it easier to return to the right place if he has moved to the next stage of your adventure. Nintendo UK’s Tears of the Kingdom tips also recommends map pins or stamps for tracking notable places.
