The Bond game and the crossover were not the same project. The crossover was later cancelled: IOI Partners and Build A Rocket Boy said on March 17, 2026, that the mission would not be released.
What were the Hitman, James Bond and MindsEye announcements?
At its first showcase in June 2025, IO Interactive presented updates for HITMAN World of Assassination, revealed 007 First Light with Amazon MGM Studios, and highlighted MindsEye, Build A Rocket Boy’s action-adventure game. The studio had previewed the showcase on June 2 as an event covering all three games and other announcements. IO Interactive’s showcase announcement also described IOI Partners as its third-party publishing division.

The key distinction: Agent 47 was planned for a post-launch mission in MindsEye, not as a character in 007 First Light. The latter is a separate James Bond game developed by IO Interactive and announced with Amazon MGM Studios.
What is 007 First Light?
IO Interactive and Amazon MGM Studios announced 007 First Light on June 4, 2025, describing it as a standalone, reimagined origin story about a young James Bond. The announcement says Bond is 26 and presents a new story rather than an adaptation of a specific film. At the time, IO Interactive said the game was coming in 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Those are the platforms and timing stated in the June 2025 announcement; they do not establish the game’s current release status. Read IO Interactive’s announcement of 007 First Light.

The showcase also included a separate Bond-related appearance in HITMAN World of Assassination: Mads Mikkelsen appeared as Le Chiffre, and playing the Elusive Target was tied to an exclusive 007 First Light in-game suit, according to IO Interactive’s June 7, 2025 showcase release. That tie-in does not make Agent 47 part of the Bond game.
What was the planned Agent 47 crossover in MindsEye?
On June 6, 2025, IO Interactive’s trailer announcement said Agent 47 would be playable in a post-launch MindsEye mission designed by Build A Rocket Boy. The announced plan placed the mission in July 2025, after MindsEye’s scheduled June 10 launch. It was a guest-character crossover within Build A Rocket Boy’s game—not a new Hitman installment or part of 007 First Light. IO Interactive’s trailer announcement describes the original plan.

Was the Hitman and MindsEye crossover cancelled?
Yes. In a joint announcement dated March 17, 2026, IOI Partners and Build A Rocket Boy said their publishing collaboration ended effective March 16, with Build A Rocket Boy taking sole publishing responsibilities for MindsEye. The announcement explicitly states that the Hitman mission planned as a crossover event “will no longer be released.” Read the joint publishing-transition announcement.
That cancellation applies to the planned Agent 47 mission in MindsEye. It does not change the separate 007 First Light announcement or the Le Chiffre tie-in in HITMAN World of Assassination.

Other announcements from the 2025 showcase
The showcase recap also named a HITMAN board-game collaboration with MOOD Publishing and a Nintendo Switch 2-exclusive Signature Edition of HITMAN World of Assassination. These were separate announcements, not alternatives to or updates on the cancelled MindsEye mission. The release additionally reported 25 million units sold for HITMAN World of Assassination and 80 million registered players across that game and its Free Starter Pack; those figures were reported by IO Interactive in June 2025.
