Yes. Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff each follow a different quest route to Richard Jackdaw in Hogwarts Legacy. Gryffindor plays The Hunt for the Missing Pages, Slytherin plays Scrope’s Last Hope, Ravenclaw plays Ollivander’s Heirloom, and Hufflepuff plays Prisoner of Love. The routes are different, but they all end at Jackdaw’s Rest and rejoin the same main-story progression. The house choice changes this section of the campaign rather than creating four completely separate storylines.
The four house routes at a glance
The house-specific mission appears after The Trials of Merlin. Each mission gives you a different reason to investigate Jackdaw’s history, then delivers you to the same next stage of the main quest. Pro Game Guides lists the four names and their shared destination in its guide, updated May 10, 2023 (house quest list).

| House | Quest | How the investigation starts | Distinctive setting or scene | Where it leads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Gryffindor | The Hunt for the Missing Pages | Nearly Headless Nick and the Headless Hunt help you search for the missing pages. | The route includes looking for Jackdaw’s head in a pumpkin patch. | Jackdaw’s Rest |
| Slytherin | Scrope’s Last Hope | Scrope, a house-elf serving the Black family, points you toward Jackdaw. | The Black family’s connection gives the route its particular introduction. | Jackdaw’s Rest |
| Ravenclaw | Ollivander’s Heirloom | You investigate a wand that Jackdaw may have stolen. | The wand investigation provides the route’s central mystery. | Jackdaw’s Rest |
| Hufflepuff | Prisoner of Love | The investigation follows a prisoner-related lead connected to Jackdaw. | The mission takes you to Azkaban. | Jackdaw’s Rest |
The four titles are not cosmetic labels for one identical mission. Their opening characters, clues and scenes are distinct, so a second character can show you a genuinely different version of this story beat. GamesRadar also describes them as four different missions that reach the same outcome (GamesRadar’s house differences guide).

Gryffindor: The Hunt for the Missing Pages
Gryffindor’s route is built around Nearly Headless Nick and the Headless Hunt. Rather than receiving the same introduction as the other houses, you work through Nick’s request and the search for pages connected to Jackdaw. A memorable part of the mission involves looking for Jackdaw’s head in a pumpkin patch, a detail noted by GamesRadar. The tone is therefore tied to Gryffindor’s ghostly and school-centered contacts, but the practical result is the same: the trail points you toward Jackdaw’s Rest.
#1 Best Overall
- EXPLORE AN OPEN WORLD. The wizarding world awaits you. Freely roam Hogwarts, Hogsmeade, the Forbidden Forest, and the surrounding Overland area.
- BE THE WITCH OR WIZARD YOU WANT TO BE. Learn spells, brew potions, grow plants, and tend to magical beasts along your journey. Get sorted into your house, forge relationships, and master skills to become the witch or wizard you want to be.
- EXPERIENCE A NEW WIZARDING WORLD ADVENTURE. Experience the wizarding world in an unexplored era to uncover a hidden truth from its past. Battle against trolls, Dark Wizards, goblins, and more as you face a dangerous villain threatening the fate of the wizarding world.
This is a good choice if the Hogwarts side of the setting appeals to you more than an artifact or prison investigation. Its distinctive content is concentrated in the route’s setup and scenes; it does not unlock a Gryffindor-only ending later in the campaign.
Slytherin: Scrope’s Last Hope
Slytherin players meet the lead through Scrope, the Black family’s house-elf. Scrope’s Last Hope uses that relationship to introduce Jackdaw’s story, so the opening circumstances feel specific to the house and its connection to the Black family. The mission is not a separate ending or an alternate version of the main plot; it is Slytherin’s route into the shared Jackdaw sequence.
The appeal here is the character connection and the way the Black family frames the investigation. If you replay as Slytherin after seeing another route, you will recognize the eventual destination but not the same opening conversation and lead-in.
Ravenclaw: Ollivander’s Heirloom
Ravenclaw’s route centers on an investigation involving a wand that Jackdaw may have stolen. Ollivander’s Heirloom gives the player a different investigative hook from the ghost, house-elf and prisoner leads used by the other houses. Once that mystery has served its purpose, the route arrives at the same Jackdaw destination as the other three missions.
The important distinction is the type of mystery, not a different gameplay system or a separate progression tree. Ravenclaw does not receive a special campaign difficulty or a unique long-term reward; it receives its own story entrance to the shared sequence.
Hufflepuff: Prisoner of Love
Hufflepuff’s route is the most unusual geographically. Prisoner of Love includes a trip to Azkaban, the wizard prison. GamesRadar describes this as the game’s only opportunity to visit Azkaban; that is the guide’s characterization, not an official statement that promises an exhaustive location list. If you want to experience the prison sequence, Hufflepuff is the house route that provides it.
That location makes Hufflepuff the most obvious replay choice for players interested in seeing a setting unavailable on the other three routes. The visit still feeds into the same Jackdaw investigation and does not branch the later main story.
Do the quests have different outcomes?
No. The routes vary in characters, setup and scenes, but they converge at Jackdaw’s Rest. From there, the main story proceeds through the shared campaign rather than splitting into a house-exclusive ending. Pro Game Guides identifies Jackdaw’s Rest as the destination for all four missions, while GamesRadar describes the missions as different paths to the same result (Pro Game Guides; GamesRadar+).

That structure matters when deciding whether to restart your character. You are choosing a different chapter-length route and some house presentation details, not locking yourself out of a different final campaign. The central plot, major progression systems and later story continue normally regardless of the house selected. GameSpot’s guide, dated November 15, 2023, likewise says the campaign proceeds normally for every house, with the principal caveat being house-exclusive content such as this quest route (GameSpot’s house guide).
What else changes when you choose a house?
The quest is the clearest story difference, but it is not the only variation. GamesRadar and GameSpot identify several presentation and early-game changes that accompany the house choice.
- Common room access: Your character enters and uses the common room belonging to the selected house. The other houses’ common rooms are not your normal home base.
- House colors and uniform details: Robes and other school clothing can display house-specific colors or trim. These are appearance differences, not separate equipment systems.
- Early introductions: Some first meetings and introductions differ because your house sends you through a different social route at the beginning of the adventure.
- House-exclusive quest route: The Jackdaw mission is the substantial narrative variation described above.
Players still meet the broader cast over the course of the game. A different first introduction does not mean that an entire house is permanently excluded from the shared character roster, and the overall campaign remains the same in its main progression (GamesRadar+; GameSpot).
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitches2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteWhen does the house quest appear?
The four missions are tied to the same point in the main storyline: they follow The Trials of Merlin. You do not receive all four options on one character. The game assigns the mission that matches your selected house, so a Gryffindor playthrough cannot switch to Scrope’s Last Hope without playing a Slytherin character.
- Choose a house during the sorting sequence. That decision determines your common room, house presentation and the Jackdaw route.
- Progress through the opening main quests. The house mission is not the first activity after sorting; continue until the story reaches the Merlin-trial stage.
- Complete the assigned house mission. Follow the lead specific to your house: Nick, Scrope, Ollivander’s wand investigation or the prisoner-related Hufflepuff lead.
- Continue from Jackdaw’s Rest. The routes converge there, allowing the shared main-story progression to resume.
The exact order of optional activities around this point can vary with how you explore, but the house assignment itself does not: each house has its own named mission in this part of the campaign.
Which house should you pick if you care about quests?
There is no universally best house because the choice depends on the type of scene you want to see. Use the route details as a preference guide rather than as a power comparison:
- Choose Gryffindor if you want the Nearly Headless Nick and Headless Hunt storyline, including the pumpkin-patch search.
- Choose Slytherin if you prefer a route introduced through Scrope and the Black family’s connection.
- Choose Ravenclaw if an artifact-focused investigation involving Ollivander and a potentially stolen wand appeals to you.
- Choose Hufflepuff if visiting Azkaban is your priority. GamesRadar identifies this route as the game’s only chance to visit the prison.
None of those choices provides a different final reward structure for the entire campaign according to the guides. The meaningful trade-off is which version of the Jackdaw chapter, common room and early introductions you want on that save. If you are choosing only for combat strength or access to the broader open world, house selection is not presented as a power-gating decision. PlayStation describes Hogwarts Legacy as an open-world action RPG in which players are sorted into a house, and the house route is one part of that larger experience (official PlayStation game page).

Can you see all four quests in one playthrough?
No. A character receives the quest associated with its own house. To see all four routes, you need separate characters or additional playthroughs, each sorted into a different house. You do not need four different versions of the game: the variation is part of the same open-world action RPG, which officially sorts players into a house.

A practical replay plan is to keep your first character for normal exploration and choose later houses based on the route you have not seen. If Azkaban is the main reason for replaying, put Hufflepuff first among your alternate saves. If you mainly want to compare character introductions and common rooms, select a different house at the start of each new character and play far enough to complete its assigned Jackdaw mission. You can stop after that shared-story checkpoint if your only goal is to compare the house content.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does house choice affect the rest of the game?
It affects where you sleep, which colors appear in house-related clothing, some early introductions and the route used to reach Jackdaw. It does not turn the campaign into four unrelated games. After the house mission reaches Jackdaw’s Rest, the principal story path is shared, and the game continues with the same broad progression regardless of whether you selected Gryffindor, Slytherin, Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff.
In short, the accurate answer to “Do all houses have different quests?” is yes—but only for this specific house quest route. The variation is substantial enough to make a replay show new scenes, especially Hufflepuff’s Azkaban visit, while limited enough that your house choice does not determine a different main-story ending.

Are the four house quests completely separate storylines?
No. They are separate routes into Richard Jackdaw’s story, but all four lead to Jackdaw’s Rest and then continue into the shared campaign.
Which quest does each house get?
Gryffindor gets The Hunt for the Missing Pages, Slytherin gets Scrope’s Last Hope, Ravenclaw gets Ollivander’s Heirloom, and Hufflepuff gets Prisoner of Love.
Is Hufflepuff the only house that visits Azkaban?
Yes, for the house routes described by GamesRadar. Its guide calls Prisoner of Love the game’s only opportunity to visit the wizard prison, making Hufflepuff the choice for that specific scene.
Can I change houses after the sorting scene?
The character’s house determines its assigned mission. To play another route, create or use a character sorted into the other house rather than expecting all four missions to appear on one save.

Do I miss important characters by choosing the “wrong” house?
No. Early introductions can differ, but players meet the broader cast over the course of the game. The house route changes when and how the Jackdaw investigation begins, not the existence of the shared campaign roster.
When should I expect the exclusive mission?
It follows The Trials of Merlin in the main-story sequence. Keep advancing through the opening quests after sorting, then complete the named mission assigned to your house.
