The free Hogwarts Legacy Summer Update launched on June 6, 2024. It is an update for owners of the game, not a separately sold DLC: it added Photo Mode, talent resets, new items and cosmetics, and made the Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest available beyond PlayStation.
What the Summer Update added
Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest
The quest, previously limited to PlayStation, became available across supported platforms. It follows Madam Mason’s mysterious shop in Hogsmeade. Completing it gives you an in-game shop and the Shopkeeper cosmetic set. The quest and its rewards are part of the update, not a separately purchased expansion. Photo Mode
Photo Mode lets you compose screenshots with camera controls, filters, effects and frames. You can hide characters, change your character’s pose, and adjust the time of day and season. It unlocks after the mission that grants access to the Field Guide. The feature and unlock point are described by PlayStation.Blog.
Talent-point resets
From the Talents section of the Field Guide, you can reset one talent or all of them. Each talent point reset costs 200 in-game gold, so resetting a larger build costs more than resetting a single choice. The official patch notes list the reset feature.

New items and cosmetics
The patch adds the Azkaban Prisoner outfit and coat, The Glasses That Lived, the Onyx Hippogriff mount, a Felix Felicis potion recipe, and the Lavender Borealis broom. It also includes the Shopkeeper cosmetic set earned through the Hogsmeade quest. Some items depend on completing the quest or reaching the relevant point in game progression; they are not all necessarily available immediately when the patch installs. Bug fixes and platform support
The update also contains bug fixes and platform-support updates. It is therefore more than a cosmetic drop or a Photo Mode addition; the support notes identify it as build 1218405 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.

Platforms, cost and release date
The Summer Update was announced as free for owners and released June 6, 2024. The platform announcements and listings cover PS5 and PS4, Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC. The official patch-note entry for build 1218405 is specifically titled for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC; PlayStation.Blog covers the PlayStation release, Xbox Wire specifies Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One, and Nintendo’s Switch listing includes the update features.
If you do not own Hogwarts Legacy, you need the base game to play; buying it is separate from receiving the free update. Check the current listing for your platform at the official purchase page, since store availability and descriptions can change. The June 2024 patch is not a separate paid edition choice.

How to decide whether the update is relevant to you
- You want to take in-game screenshots: Photo Mode offers composition controls and becomes available after Field Guide access.
- You want to change your build: Talent resets let you revise individual choices or reset all talents, with a 200-gold cost per point.
- You want the Hogsmeade quest: The Haunted Hogsmeade Shop quest is no longer PlayStation-only and rewards the Shopkeeper set and an in-game shop.
- You are considering buying the game: The patch costs nothing for owners, but it does not replace the base game purchase.
What the 2024 sales figure means
SEGA reported 22 million copies sold in its June 7, 2024 announcement. That is a figure reported on that date, not a current lifetime total. SEGA’s announcement is the source.
