The main Moorwing cheese described by game guides uses the Reaper Crest to hit the boss through the floor: lure it up to the elevated entrance platform, then attack downward from the edge. If that positioning does not work in your game, try the exit-nook variation or use the caravan route to avoid the initial fight.
Reaper Crest method: hit Moorwing through the floor
A Silksong Wiki guide describes using the Reaper Crest’s circular downward attack to damage Moorwing from above while the boss is below the platform. This is a guide-reported exploit, not a guaranteed result.
- Equip the Reaper Crest.
- Start the Moorwing encounter, then turn back toward the entrance.
- Ride the wind current on the right up to the entrance platform.
- Wait there for Moorwing to follow you.
- Stand at the platform edge above the gap and repeatedly use the Crest’s downward attack. The guide says it can hit Moorwing through the floor while the boss cannot hit Hornet from below.
The key is getting Moorwing beneath the elevated platform before attacking. If it does not follow or the downward attack does not connect, adjust your position or use one of the alternatives below.
Exit-nook variation
PC Gamer’s guide describes a related setup near the arena exit: after entering, return right, ride the air current, and wait in a nook near the exit. Moorwing follows and repeatedly bumps the floor; jump and attack downward into the corner to damage it through the floor. The guide says Moorwing may be stunned and then return to its position, allowing you to repeat the setup.

PCGamesN also describes retreating to an elevated platform and waiting for Moorwing before attacking, though it does not give the same detailed corner sequence.

The guides do not establish which method is fastest or most reliable. Choose based on whether you want to fight at all, have the Reaper Crest, and can reproduce the arena positioning in your game.

Skip Moorwing or make the normal fight easier
Use the caravan route
After completing The Lost Fleas, accept the caravan’s offer to travel to Greymoor. The cited guides describe the caravan occupying Moorwing’s arena, letting you progress without the initial fight. The community wiki also records an alternate route into Bellhart that bypasses the encounter.
Recruit Garmond and Zaza
If you have already encountered Moorwing, report its location to Garmond and Zaza. The guides say you can recruit them for your next attempt, giving you allies in the fight.

Fight with openings in mind
If you choose a conventional fight, PCGamesN recommends prioritizing evasion, waiting for safe openings, and using Moorwing’s stagger to recover. Its guide says each hit deals double damage. The community wiki describes a swoop and blade attacks, with additional or altered attacks in the later phase; its attack names are not official terminology.
