Hollow Knight: Silksong is out now: Team Cherry released it on September 4, 2025. The latest dated item in the studio’s news index covered Patch 5 on March 16, 2026, describing it as live on PC and coming soon to consoles. Team Cherry has also announced a free expansion, Sea of Sorrow, for 2026; it has not given an exact release date in the official announcements reviewed here.
Is Hollow Knight: Silksong out yet?
Yes. Team Cherry released Hollow Knight: Silksong on September 4, 2025. Its launch announcement listed Steam, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, GOG, and Humble Bundle, and said the game was available on Xbox Game Pass from day one. The PlayStation Store listing identifies PS4 and PS5 versions and the same release date.

What is the latest Silksong update?
The latest dated entry visible in Team Cherry’s news index is the studio’s March 16, 2026 Patch 5 announcement. It says Patch 5 is live for PC platforms and coming soon to consoles. That wording reflects the announcement’s stated rollout status; consult the platform-specific notice for current availability rather than assuming the console release has since completed.
Silksong’s Steam announcements feed also includes patch and fix notices covering areas such as localization, controller support, gameplay corrections, and smaller fixes. Details and rollout can differ by patch and platform, so check the notice for the particular update you need.

What is Sea of Sorrow?
Sea of Sorrow is Team Cherry’s announced first expansion for Silksong. In a December 15, 2025 announcement, the studio described it as nautically themed, free for all players, and planned for 2026, with new areas, bosses, tools, and more. The Steam announcement says additional information is expected shortly before release. Neither reviewed official announcement gives a specific launch date, so treat 2026 as the announced window, not a confirmed day.
Team Cherry’s December 15, 2025 holiday announcement also reported that more than seven million copies had been purchased, alongside millions more people playing through Xbox Game Pass. This is the studio’s figure at the time of that update, not a current lifetime sales counter or an independently audited total.

Who makes Silksong?
Team Cherry is a three-person studio based in Adelaide, South Australia. Its official site names Ari Gibson, William Pellen, and Jasmine Vine, and describes Gibson and Pellen’s design roles and Vine’s coding work.
