What the achievement requires
Steam describes Speedrunner as completing the game in under five hours. Treat that wording literally: aim to finish below the threshold rather than arriving at exactly five hours. The requirement is not the same as a 100% completion target; do not add optional completion goals to this attempt unless you specifically want them.
A Steam Community guide is listed as a “Speedrunner Achievement Guide” for beating the game under five hours: open the guide listing. The listing establishes its purpose, but without its full route text there is no reliable basis to claim particular mandatory bosses, upgrades, or checkpoints. Use the guide itself for route-specific instructions rather than relying on an unverified route summary.
Plan a focused achievement attempt
Set a margin below five hours
Build a buffer into your goal. A route that leaves no room for navigation mistakes, difficult encounters, or detours is fragile even if its theoretical completion time is under five hours. Prefer a route you can execute consistently over an unfamiliar route that appears faster on paper; this is a planning principle, not a measured comparison of published route times.

Keep the run focused
Follow the selected route’s required objectives and avoid optional exploration unless the route calls for it. A speed-focused attempt and a broader completion run have different priorities: optional content can consume time without helping meet this achievement.
Confirm timer behavior in your own setup
A community guide excerpt says the in-game timer is used and that opening inventory stops time. That behavior is not established here as an official rule, so do not build a tight schedule around it without confirming it in your game and version. The achievement’s stated threshold is the dependable target; timer details should be treated as guidance from that community source, not a universal guarantee.

Check the game version and ruleset before following a route
The community speedrunning resources repository includes release-patch route materials and warns that some modifications are not legal for Speedrun.com submissions: Silksong speedrunning resources. A route or modification suitable for earning an in-game achievement is not automatically eligible for a leaderboard category.
Speedrun.com has a Hollow Knight: Silksong listing, but the listing alone does not establish the current rules for every category. Before submitting a run, check the live rules for the exact category and game version, including its treatment of modifications. Do not assume that materials described as release-patch routes or any particular mod are accepted.
