Did Silksong appear at The Game Awards 2024?
No. The show took place on December 12, 2024, and ABC News Australia’s recap reported no Hollow Knight announcement. Its live coverage listed several absent announcements, including “no Hollow Knight”: ABC News Australia’s December 13 recap.
Before the ceremony, a Silksong release-date reveal was among the possibilities discussed by fans and in event predictions. That was speculation, not confirmation that the game was scheduled to appear.
What did fans expect before the show?
A November 29 report by Multiplayer.it described people asking whether Silksong would show up and suggested that some would have welcomed any sign of the game, even without a trailer or release date. Reporter Simone Tagliaferri summarized that anticipation with the Italian sentence “Fondamentalmente basterebbe un segno della sua esistenza per rendere tutti felici”—“Basically, a sign that it existed would be enough to make everyone happy,” translated from Italian. It is the reporter’s characterization, not a quote from a named fan. What the ResetEra poll can—and cannot—tell us
Everyeye reported a snapshot of a ResetEra forum poll in its November 29 coverage. It had about 900 votes at the time of that report. The options included a joke answer, so the results reflect one forum’s poll—not a representative survey of Silksong fans or the wider gaming audience.

Why “enrages fans” overstates what the coverage shows
The absence was real, but the available reports do not establish that fans broadly were enraged. The documented response before the show was largely framed as resigned, humorous anticipation. The ResetEra poll offers no measure of anger or disappointment, and it cannot show how fans outside that forum felt. There is also no sourced official explanation for why Silksong was not announced at the event.
