Honkai Impact 3rd Gacha Guide: How Banners, Pity, and Supply Drops Work

Honkai Impact 3rd has no single universal pity rule. Check each active Supply’s target, counter, carryover terms, and event rewards before spending.

Honkai Impact 3rd does not have one universal pity counter. Each Supply has its own reward type and terms, so check the active banner’s in-game details before spending Crystals or Supply Cards. Read its exact featured-item guarantee, any lower-rarity guarantee, carryover rule, and milestone bonuses separately. A guarantee in one banner—or an example from an older version—does not establish the rules for another.

What “Supply” and “pity” mean in Honkai Impact 3rd

Supply is the game’s term for its gacha banners. Different Supplies can offer different categories of rewards, such as battlesuits, equipment, or an AstralOp. A pity or guarantee threshold is a stated number of drops by which a specified reward is guaranteed under that Supply’s rules. The important question is not simply “What is the pity in Honkai Impact 3rd?” but “What does this exact active Supply guarantee, and what happens to its counter?”

In everyday gacha discussions, players often use “pity” to mean several things: a counter that advances with drops, the maximum stated number before a target is guaranteed, or a general sense that a reward becomes more likely over time. For planning, rely on the actual guarantee wording rather than the shorthand. A threshold in a notice tells you what is guaranteed by that point for the named Supply; it does not, by itself, tell you the chance of receiving the target earlier, an average pull count, or what happens to unfinished progress after the event.

Keep three kinds of outcome distinct when reading a banner:

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.
  • A featured-item guarantee: a stated threshold for a named or featured reward, such as a featured S-rank battlesuit or weapon.
  • A rarity guarantee: a guarantee that an item of a given rarity will appear within a stated number of drops. That does not necessarily mean the item is the featured reward.
  • An event milestone: an extra reward, such as Supply Cards, granted at a specified point in a particular event Supply. It is not automatically a permanent banner rule.

These distinctions determine how useful a counter is for your goal. A 4-star equipment guarantee, for example, does not by itself promise a particular weapon. Likewise, event bonus cards are not evidence that every banner offers the same bonus. When a notice lists more than one threshold, read each one as a separate promise with its own target.

How to check the active banner before pulling

Use the details shown in the game for the specific Supply you intend to use. Confirm the exact Supply name and its featured reward before relying on a counter or a number from an older notice. If the banner is part of a limited event, check its notice as well as the in-game details. Version, event, and server schedules can differ; the available official examples below are historical or tied to a named event, not a promise about the current lineup.

  1. Open the active Supply and identify its type. Check whether it is a Battlesuit, Equipment, AstralOp, outfit, or another event Supply. Do not assume that a counter applies across categories.
  2. Read the guarantee wording and target. Look for the number of drops and the reward being guaranteed. Note whether it promises a featured item, an item of a rarity, or a different reward.
  3. Check the counter shown for that Supply. Use the current in-game value rather than a remembered number from another banner. If you have already pulled, make sure you are reading the relevant active counter.
  4. Verify carryover explicitly. Look for whether remaining progress carries over, and to which subsequent Supply or Supply type. If the active terms do not say, do not plan on carryover.
  5. Check the pool and any event milestones. Confirm which items are featured and whether bonus rewards apply to this specific event, including the milestone and its limit.
  6. Check the current cost and currency in the game. The examples in this guide do not establish a universal current Crystal or Supply Card price. Use the live banner’s displayed cost before deciding how many pulls you can afford.

It helps to make a short note before spending: the target, the displayed threshold, the current counter, the amount of progress remaining, and any clearly stated transfer rule. This keeps a bonus milestone from being mistaken for the featured-item guarantee, and keeps a counter from a different tab or event out of your calculation. If the banner shows a separate count for a lower-rarity reward, do not substitute that number for the featured item’s count.

If a current banner’s wording is unclear, the safest basis is the live in-game Supply description and the current official HoYoverse notice for the same server and event. A dated notice can establish what that named banner offered; it cannot fill in a missing term for a different banner.

Official examples: guarantees differ by Supply

HoYoverse’s official notices show why it is important to keep reward categories and thresholds separate. These are specific examples, not a combined set of rules that applies to every banner.

Supply example Officially stated mechanic What the number does—and does not—mean
Battlesuit Supply in the v8.2 announcement, April 24, 2025 The featured S-rank battlesuit Peregrine Sword was guaranteed within 90 drops. The first 10 drops were 50% off. The 90-drop figure is the stated guarantee for that featured battlesuit example. The announcement’s first-10 discount is specific to that notice; neither detail establishes terms for every later or special Supply.
Battlesuit Supply in the v7.8 notice, October 5, 2024 The featured S-rank battlesuit was guaranteed within 90 drops. This is a second dated example of a 90-drop featured-battlesuit guarantee, not proof that every current Battlesuit Supply has identical terms.
Equipment Supply in the v7.8 notice, October 5, 2024 A 4-star weapon or stigma was guaranteed within every 10 Equipment Supply drops. The featured weapon Skyveil Feathers was guaranteed within 60 drops. The 10-drop rarity guarantee and 60-drop featured-weapon guarantee have different targets. The first does not promise Skyveil Feathers or another particular featured weapon.
AstralOp Supply in the v9.0 announcement, August 20, 2026 AstralOp Senadina was guaranteed within 60 AstralOp Supply drops. Every 10 drops within the first 60 also awarded two Equipment Supply Cards, up to 12 cards. Both the AstralOp guarantee and card milestones belong to the named v9.0 event. They are not general Battlesuit or Equipment Supply rules.

The v8.2, v7.8, and v9.0 figures are official, dated examples; they are not a live schedule or confirmation that the same rewards, counters, discounts, or bonuses remain available now. In particular, the 50% discount in the v8.2 notice is not evidence of a standing discount, and the v9.0 card milestones should not be assumed to exist outside that event. Check the current banner terms for the active version.

The examples also illustrate why comparing banners by a single number can mislead. The 90-drop battlesuit examples concern a featured S-rank battlesuit; the 60-drop Equipment Supply figure concerns a featured weapon; and the 10-drop Equipment Supply rule concerns a 4-star item of a broader category. The AstralOp example adds a separate event reward alongside its named target. These numbers are not interchangeable estimates of how many drops are needed for any desired reward.

For the v7.8 Equipment Supply example, “weapon or stigma” describes the type of 4-star reward guaranteed within each 10 drops, while Skyveil Feathers is the named featured weapon tied to the 60-drop guarantee. Players seeking that weapon should therefore focus on the stated featured-weapon threshold, not stop at the separate 10-drop guarantee and assume it has been obtained. The same reading habit applies whenever a banner lists both rarity protections and a featured-item guarantee.

Does pity carry over to another banner?

Do not assume that it does. The available official examples establish guarantees and, for one named AstralOp event, milestone rewards; they do not establish a universal carryover rule. Nor do they show that Battlesuit, Equipment, and AstralOp counters share progress with one another.

As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

For a practical answer, inspect the active Supply’s terms for a statement about remaining progress and the exact Supply to which it applies. If the banner does not clearly establish that an unused counter transfers to the next banner, treat the transfer as unconfirmed. A guarantee from a previous version, an older guide, or a different Supply type is not a substitute for that wording.

This matters most when a limited banner is ending. A counter that would be useful on a future banner only helps if the applicable terms say it carries over there. If the destination is not specified, do not count on progress being preserved, shared, or converted into another type of Supply.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

“Does pity carry over?” is therefore not a question with a safe game-wide yes or no based on these examples. The answer can depend on the exact Supply and the terms attached to it. If a notice says progress transfers to a subsequent banner, identify which banner or category it names; do not broaden a specific transfer statement into a claim that every kind of Supply shares a counter.

How many drops should you plan for?

There is no single number that answers this for every goal. Start with the exact target and threshold in the active banner: a featured battlesuit, a featured weapon, a guaranteed item of a rarity, and an event bonus are not interchangeable. The official examples above include thresholds of 90 drops for named Battlesuit Supply examples, 60 drops for the featured weapon in a v7.8 Equipment Supply notice, and 60 drops for AstralOp Senadina in v9.0. Those numbers describe those notices only.

To compare a displayed counter with a stated threshold, use the counter and threshold for the same active Supply. If the banner explicitly shows a guarantee by a certain number of drops, subtract the progress already recorded on that same counter from that threshold to understand how many drops remain to reach it. Do not subtract progress from a different Supply type or use an older notice’s threshold as the active banner’s target.

For example, if a live banner states a guarantee by a threshold and its counter shows progress toward that same threshold, the difference is the remaining number of drops under those terms. This is a planning calculation, not a prediction of when an earlier featured drop will happen. It also tells you nothing about the Crystal or card cost until you check the current per-drop price shown in game. If the banner’s own wording uses a different counter format, follow that wording rather than imposing this calculation.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

A threshold is a guarantee boundary, not an expected pull count or an estimate of how many drops most players will need. The available official notices do not establish an average success rate, expected number of pulls, universal price per pull, or total spending estimate. They also do not establish that a weapon guarantee gives a complete equipment set. Avoid treating any of those as promised outcomes unless the live banner explicitly says so.

Also distinguish a guarantee of one named reward from a guarantee of a full build or set. The v7.8 example identifies a featured weapon guarantee, while its separate every-10-drops guarantee covers a 4-star weapon or stigma. Neither statement, on its own, promises all equipment needed for a set. Check what each listed reward actually contains and avoid inferring a complete collection from a single-item guarantee.

Before using Crystals or Supply Cards, set a limit based on the resources you actually have and the displayed cost. If reaching the stated guarantee would require more than that limit, decide whether to stop or wait before pulling; do not rely on a possible carryover or an event bonus unless that banner’s terms confirm it. No historical discount example should be treated as the current price, and a bonus card milestone should only enter your plan if it is listed for the banner you are opening.

Why older guides may use different banner names

Some older guides use the names Expansion Supply and Focused Supply. A community wiki’s Supplies page describes the change from Expansion to Battlesuit Supply and Focused to Equipment Supply, while its Focused Supply page is marked as legacy content. That terminology can help explain older posts, but it is secondary information and may not reflect current terms.

In particular, do not use historical “Focused A/B” counter details as current Equipment Supply advice just because the names look familiar. If an older source conflicts with the live game, give priority to the active in-game description and a current official notice for the same server and event. A disagreement can reflect retired rules, an earlier version, or a different server schedule rather than a contradiction in the current banner.

When reading a guide written under an older name, translate the name cautiously rather than assuming every mechanic survived the rename. The community wiki’s terminology history can help explain why a post calls something “Focused,” but its legacy page is not evidence that an old counter, pool, or guarantee is still active. Match the actual banner name and rules in your game before using any old guide to plan drops.

What changes from one update to another?

Version notices can introduce several Supply types and event-specific terms at once. HoYoverse’s official v8.1 event preview, for example, listed multiple distinct Supply types and directed players to in-game announcements for more details on version events and bonuses. The preview therefore supports a useful habit—check the particular event’s live details—but does not give one universal guarantee or carryover policy.

At the time of the official news index retrieved for October 10, 2026, v9.0, announced August 20, 2026, was the latest update listed there. That index and its v9.0 notice provide dated context, not confirmation of the banner lineup available to every player on October 13, 2026. A news index may not reflect a server’s live schedule or a banner that has since ended. For current availability and exact terms, rely on the Supply screen and event notice in your game.

Updates can affect more than the featured character or equipment: the event lineup, bonus milestones, displayed cost, and applicable notice may differ. The official v8.1 preview’s direction to follow in-game announcements for version events and bonuses is a reminder that the event-specific details matter. It is not a substitute for checking the actual current banner, and it does not imply that every version includes the same discount or card reward.

Quick decision checklist

  • Is the target on a Battlesuit, Equipment, AstralOp, outfit, or another Supply?
  • Does the guarantee name the featured reward, or only promise an item of a specified rarity?
  • What threshold and current counter are displayed for that exact banner?
  • Does its wording explicitly say whether progress carries over, and where?
  • Are any bonus cards or other milestone rewards limited to this event?
  • Have you checked the actual reward pool, current cost, and your own spending limit?

If any answer depends on a rule you cannot find in the active banner’s terms, treat it as unknown rather than importing a number from another Supply or version.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does pity work in Honkai Impact 3rd?

There is no single universal pity rule. Each Supply has its own reward category and terms. Check the active banner’s stated threshold, the reward it guarantees, and the counter for that exact Supply. A featured-item guarantee, a lower-rarity guarantee, and an event milestone are separate outcomes.

Does pity carry over to the next banner?

Do not assume that it does. Check the active Supply’s wording for whether remaining progress carries over and which later Supply it applies to. The dated official examples here do not establish a universal carryover rule.

Are character and equipment pity shared?

The examples do not establish shared progress between Battlesuit, Equipment, or AstralOp Supplies. Treat each counter separately unless the active banner’s own terms explicitly say otherwise.

How many pulls do I need to guarantee a battlesuit or weapon?

Use the threshold stated for the current banner and target. Official historical examples include 90 drops for featured S-rank battlesuits in the v7.8 and v8.2 notices, and 60 drops for featured weapon Skyveil Feathers in the v7.8 Equipment Supply notice. Those figures do not establish the threshold of a current banner; check its live details.

Does a 4-star Equipment Supply guarantee mean I get the featured weapon?

No. In HoYoverse’s v7.8 example, a 4-star weapon or stigma was guaranteed within every 10 Equipment Supply drops, while Skyveil Feathers had its own featured-weapon guarantee within 60 drops. The rarity guarantee was not a promise of that named weapon.

Are bonus Supply Cards included with every banner?

No. The v9.0 AstralOp Supply notice said every 10 drops within the first 60 awarded two Equipment Supply Cards, up to 12 cards. That was a milestone attached to the named event, not a universal banner feature.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Can I use an old guide to work out my current cost or expected pulls?

Not reliably. The official examples do not establish a universal current Crystal or Supply Card price, an expected pull count, or a success rate. Check the active in-game cost and terms, and do not treat a historical discount as a standing offer.
