Her apparent death is a story event, but that scene alone does not establish that she is permanently dead. The game’s later story status is not verified by the sources cited here.
Who is Firefly?
Firefly is a character in Honkai: Star Rail and a member of the Stellaron Hunters. She comes from Glamoth, a world described as long destroyed. The game’s version 2.3 announcement also identifies her as a five-star Fire-Type playable character and says she can summon her SAM armor in combat. PlayStation Blog’s June 7, 2024 announcement establishes these release-era details; it does not confirm story developments in later versions.
Is Firefly dead?
Spoiler warning: This section refers to a plot event.
Firefly’s apparent death should not be treated as proof that she is permanently dead. The scene presents an apparent death, but that fact by itself does not settle her lasting fate. The available story references do not establish a definitive current status, so a stronger claim about what happens in later chapters would require checking the game’s newer story material.

Is Firefly Sam?
Firefly is associated with SAM armor, which she uses in combat. The version 2.3 announcement describes her summoning that armor; it does not say that “Firefly” and “SAM” are interchangeable names for one identity. The fan-maintained Firefly character reference and Firefly lore page also discuss the connection, but should be treated as secondary references rather than definitive evidence of her latest story status.
