Complete Youci’s Clever Decor to unlock Pure Fiction. Then open it through the Interastral Peace Guide or visit Youci, the floating bird cage in the Exalting Sanctum on the Xianzhou Luofu. To score well, build two teams that can handle groups of enemies, take advantage of the active phase’s mechanics and buffs, and account for each half’s weaknesses.

- Complete the mission Youci’s Clever Decor.
- Open Pure Fiction from the Interastral Peace Guide, or travel to the Exalting Sanctum on the Xianzhou Luofu and interact with Youci, the floating bird cage.

How Pure Fiction works
Pure Fiction is a recurring, score-focused endgame challenge with four stages. A standard stage has two encounters: you need a separate four-character team for each half, and characters used in one half cannot be reused in the other. Points come from defeating enemies and dealing damage; the stage’s total score determines its star reward. The mode therefore favors teams that can keep damaging groups of enemies, rather than relying only on single-target damage. For the mode overview, see Icy Veins and Prydwen.
Do not assume older explanations of Pure Fiction’s turn cycles or Whimsicality and Cacophony describe the current rotation. More recent guides discuss Grit and phase effects; check the active stage’s rules and buff descriptions in-game before choosing teams.

How to choose characters and build both teams
Favor attacks that hit multiple targets
Area attacks hit all enemies, while blast attacks hit a main target and nearby enemies. Both attack types can contribute damage across a crowded wave more efficiently than single-target attacks. Use the characters you have built and can support; a role-based fit to the phase is more useful than treating a tier list as a universal ranking. See Honkai Builds’ Pure Fiction guide.
Choose a team and buff around the phase mechanic
Each rotation can reward particular actions through its Grit system and phase effects. Read how the active effect fills or triggers, then choose a team that performs those actions naturally. When the phase offers multiple buffs, match the buff to what the team actually does rather than choosing by its name alone. Plan for both halves
Check each half’s enemy weaknesses and distribute your strongest suitable characters across both teams. A character or team that performs well in one half may be a poor fit for the other, and you cannot use the same character twice in a stage. If a team is struggling, first check whether its damage type and phase synergy suit that half before rebuilding around a general ranking.
Use rankings as rotation-specific guidance
In a character guide updated October 7, 2026 for Version 4.6, Honkai Builds lists The Herta, Herta, Himeko, Jade, Ashveil, Evanescia, and others in its broad SS group, and highlights the first four as Pure Fiction specialists. This is a Version 4.6 ranking snapshot, not a guarantee of the best lineup for every account or the exact teams for the Version 4.5 phase described below. Consult the full character guide alongside the active stage’s enemies and effects.

Version 4.5 phase example: Domain Genesis
At the October 8, 2026 publication date, Icy Veins lists Version 4.5’s Domain Genesis phase as running from September 14 through October 26, 2026. Its Stage 4 guide lists these weaknesses and representative teams:

These are examples from the Version 4.5 guide, not universal prescriptions; the guide also lists other team and buff choices. Phase dates, enemy weaknesses, and effects change with rotations, so verify the current in-game stage rather than carrying these details into a later phase. How to interpret Pure Fiction team statistics
Prydwen’s 4.5.1 Domain Genesis analytics page, updated October 1, 2026, reports 11,046 player submissions and says its snapshot covers Stage 4. That sample can show which characters appeared in submitted clears, but appearance rates are affected by the phase effect and enemy lineup. Prydwen cautions against using those analytics to compare characters’ pull value; treat them as a record of performance in that rotation, not a prediction for every account or future stage.
