Yes—but the October 2024 report was an unverified leak, not an official HoYoverse drip-marketing post. Beebom reported that an anonymous image showed Fugue as a 5-star Fire Nihility character and Tingyun’s new form, while warning it could be fan art. On November 22, 2024, a developer-authored Version 2.7 preview later confirmed Fugue was Tingyun and described her as a 5-star Fire character.
What did the October 2024 leak report claim?
On October 10, 2024, Beebom reported that an anonymous image circulating on social media depicted Fugue as Tingyun’s new form. The report attributed three details to the image: Fugue was a 5-star character on the Nihility Path who dealt Fire damage. Beebom explicitly cautioned that the image might be fan art, so none of those claims should be mistaken for official confirmation at the time. Read Beebom’s October 10 report.
Was Fugue actually Tingyun?
Yes. In a November 22, 2024 Version 2.7 preview on PlayStation.Blog, Honkai: Star Rail Technical Lead Yang Yu identified Fugue as Tingyun, writing: “Another character soon to arrive is Fugue, who we know as our old friend Tingyun.” The developer-authored preview confirmed her as a 5-star Fire character. That later announcement established the identity and key details; it did not make the earlier anonymous image an official post. Read the November 22 Version 2.7 preview.

A HoYoLAB community page dated October 17, 2024 also reposted introductory Version 2.7 wording, but it was a community post rather than the primary developer confirmation. View the HoYoLAB community post.

- Honkai: Star Rail Fugue 1/8 Figure Stellar Luck Ver.
What story did the official preview give Fugue?
The preview connected Fugue’s return to Tingyun’s near-fatal encounter with Phantylia in Version 1.2. Madam Ruan Mei saved her, and Himeko and Welt were tasked with bringing her home. This was the story context presented in the November 2024 announcement.
What gameplay details did the preview describe?
The announcement presented Fugue as a support character whose Toughness reduction could ignore an enemy’s Weakness Type. It also described Cloudflame Luster, an interaction with Super Break damage, and an Ultimate that reduces all enemies’ Toughness regardless of their Weakness Type. These are the preview’s descriptions, not independent test results.
