These are different ways to participate—not guaranteed wages or fixed cash returns. “How do players get paid?” depends on the reward system, its current rules, and whether an in-game asset or token can be sold for a usable amount. One important update for older guides: Sky Mavis says Origins SLP emissions ceased starting January 7, 2026.
What “getting paid” means in Axie Infinity
Axie rewards can take the form of in-game items, token-denominated rewards, or proceeds from marketplace sales. Receiving a token or digital item is not the same as receiving fiat income: its saleability and value depend on the relevant rules and market conditions. Official materials do not establish typical net player earnings after accounting for asset purchases, fees, time, or changes in token prices.
The main paths differ in what they require: gameplay involves activity and eligibility rules; staking requires locking AXS; and marketplace sales require an asset and a buyer. The rewards and rules can change, so older play-to-earn advice should not be treated as a current earnings estimate.
Gameplay rewards in Origins
Stamina-based battle rewards
Origins stamina limits access to stamina-based rewards. Each battle consumes one stamina, and the daily supply replenishes at 03:00 UTC. The cap is 30, and the amount available is tied to the number of blockchain Axies held. Once daily stamina is exhausted, further matches do not earn stamina-based rewards, though reduced rewards may still apply. See Sky Mavis Support’s Origins stamina guide.

Check-ins and the login calendar
Check-in rewards start from a base amount that can be modified by rank and collectible-part bonuses. A missed check-in can be reclaimed within seven days by spending SLP, but reclaiming it restores only the base reward, not the bonuses. Login-calendar rewards are a separate system: rewards vary by day and may include Moonshards, utility boxes, Charms, or Runes. They do not scale with collection size or Arena rank. Codex and Bounty Board rewards
The Codex has a free path and paid Premier paths. Players make progress by completing daily bounties. Each Premier path costs 4 bAXS; a player who does not have enough bAXS can pay 4 AXS instead. Weekly bounty rewards are distributed according to accumulated points, and the Bounty Board also offers additional rewards to the top 3,000 players. These are conditional, rules-based rewards rather than unconditional payments. Because Codex access and rewards are seasonal, check the current in-game terms before spending tokens. AXS staking is separate from playing
AXS staking involves locking AXS through Axie’s staking interface to receive newly issued AXS rewards. It is token-denominated staking, not a guaranteed cash yield: the amount a player receives and the fiat value of those tokens are different questions. The official sources do not establish a fixed current return percentage or a representative realized fiat yield. Axie’s token page describes the staking mechanism: Axie Infinity Shards (AXS).
Sky Mavis’ history timeline describes a November 2025 announcement of a staking reward-distribution model in which rewards were planned to decrease by 5% every nine days. That dated description is not a verified current APR; use the live staking dashboard for current terms rather than treating the historical figure as a present-day rate. Collectibles, crafting, and marketplace sales
Collectible Axie rewards
Some collectible Axies may qualify their holders for AXS-infused chests through active play, but merely owning a collectible is not enough. Eligibility depends on the Axie type and reaching the rank specified for its relevant era. The guide names Mystic, Origin, Xmas, Shiny, Japanese, and MEO Axies, with thresholds varying by era. Check the current criteria in Sky Mavis Support’s Collectible Axies overview.
Crafting and trading items
Runes and Charms made with Moon Shards and SLP can be minted and traded among players. Some items crafted with Moon Shards alone are sealed and cannot be minted or traded. Sky Mavis’ crafting guide also says that SLP earning and crafting are unavailable in the Google Play Store version of Origins. Selling assets on the marketplace
App.Axie lists Axies, Runes, Charms, and land among the digital assets available in its marketplace. A sale may produce proceeds, but it depends on the asset, a willing buyer, and transaction conditions; purchases, fees, and market changes can affect the net result. Marketplace listings alone do not establish what players typically earn. See App.Axie and the official AXS page.
Why older SLP earning guides may be out of date
Sky Mavis’ history timeline states that Origins SLP emissions ceased starting January 7, 2026. It also records a February 2026 Bounty Board rewards update, including increased leaderboard rewards and expanded leaderboard eligibility, alongside the introduction of bAXS and the movement of some ecosystem rewards to it. These dates are important when evaluating older instructions that describe SLP as a current, routine Origins reward. The timeline is historical context, not a live reward calculator.

There is no evidence in the official materials here to rank these options by net returns. Compare the asset or capital required, time and skill involved, eligibility, whether the reward can be sold, and exposure to token or NFT market changes. AXS staking is not a substitute for gameplay rewards, and a listed asset is not a guaranteed sale.
How reliable are Axie reward rules over time?
Axie’s official whitepaper cautions that “Development priorities, roadmaps, and features are subject to radical overhaul based on research, traction, feedback from the community, and a myriad of other factors.” The statement is useful context, not a substitute for checking current rules: Axie Infinity Whitepaper.
