The best format depends on the audience and the job the video needs to do; video is a flexible communication tool, not a guaranteed growth hack.
How video supports the customer journey
A useful business video starts with a specific audience and purpose. Decide what viewers should understand or do, then choose a format and channel that fit. A short social clip, a detailed demonstration, and a customer-support tutorial solve different problems.
Reach and discovery
Short social videos and ads can introduce a business, product, or point of view to potential customers. Define the intended audience and distribution channel before scripting, and measure reach or awareness rather than treating views alone as proof of business impact.
Understanding and evaluation
Explainer videos, product demonstrations, and screen recordings can make a feature, service, or process easier to understand. Keep each video focused on one question or decision. A viewer evaluating a product needs clear evidence of how it works, not a general list of claims.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Trust and proof
Testimonials can give prospective customers a view of another customer’s experience. Get permission, represent that experience accurately, and do not imply that one customer’s result is typical unless you have evidence to support that claim.
Conversion
A sales video or product demo can address objections and show an offer in use. Give viewers a clear next step, such as booking a consultation or viewing product details, and track qualified actions rather than relying only on view counts.
Retention, support, and internal communication
Onboarding, how-to, and customer-service videos can help existing customers use a product or service. They may reduce repeated support questions; evaluate this by tracking the questions customers still ask, video completion, and retention where those measures make sense. Training and employee-onboarding videos serve a separate but valuable internal audience.

What kinds of videos businesses make
Wyzowl’s 2026 State of Video Marketing report says 69% of surveyed video marketers had created social-media videos, 68% explainers, 57% testimonials, 48% presentations, 48% video ads, and 39% product demos. These are overlapping formats reported by marketers, not a prescription that every business should produce all of them.

| Format | Good fit | Useful outcome to track |
|---|---|---|
| Social clip or video ad | Introducing a product, offer, or point of view to a defined audience | Reach, awareness, qualified clicks, or another campaign goal |
| Explainer | Answering a common question about a product, service, or process | Understanding, engagement, and progression to the next relevant step |
| Product demo or screen recording | Showing how a product or process works | Qualified actions, evaluation progress, or fewer recurring questions |
| Testimonial | Adding a customer’s accurately represented experience as proof | Engagement and qualified actions, alongside permission and claim checks |
| Presentation or webinar | Explaining a subject in depth or addressing a group of interested viewers | Attendance, completion, follow-up actions, or qualified leads |
| Onboarding or support video | Helping customers use a product after purchase | Completion, repeat support queries, or retention where measurable |
Wyzowl reports that 51% of surveyed video marketers mostly created live-action video, 23% animated video, and 19% screen-recorded video. The figures describe respondents’ production choices; they do not establish that one style performs better.
How to choose a platform and video length
Choose distribution based on where the intended audience is likely to find or use the video, the video’s purpose, its format, the effort needed to produce it, and whether you can measure the relevant outcome there. Wyzowl’s 2026 survey found that respondents uploaded video to YouTube (82%), LinkedIn (70%), Instagram (69%), Facebook (66%), webinars (56%), and TikTok (40%). Respondents most often called YouTube effective (69%), followed by Instagram (56%), Facebook (55%), LinkedIn (50%), and webinars (42%). These are reported marketer views, not universal rankings or evidence that one platform is best for every business.

Short video is a reasonable starting experiment, not a rule. In the same report, 71% of surveyed marketers believed videos between 30 seconds and two minutes were most effective, and 63% of surveyed consumers preferred a short video to learn about a product or service. A detailed demonstration, webinar, or training lesson may need more time. Judge length by whether viewers complete it and whether it does its intended job.
How to plan a business video that can be evaluated
- Name the audience and question. Identify who the video is for and the specific question, decision, or task it should help with.
- Choose one primary outcome. Decide whether the priority is awareness, understanding, qualified leads, sales, support, or another defined result.
- Match the format and channel to the job. For example, use a focused explainer for a recurring question or a product demo for a feature customers need to evaluate. Select a channel based on audience behavior and available measurement.
- Make the next step clear. If the video supports a decision, tell viewers what relevant action they can take next without obscuring the information they need.
- Set a baseline and review the path to the outcome. Where feasible, compare results with a baseline or a suitable comparison and track the route from exposure to action.
- Use the results to improve the next video. Look for where viewers stop, what questions remain, and whether the intended outcome moved—not just whether the video accumulated views.
How to measure video marketing ROI
Use a metric that matches the video’s job. Reach and awareness matter for discovery; understanding and engagement for education; qualified leads and sales for acquisition; and recurring support questions or retention for existing customers. Views and engagement can describe activity, but they do not by themselves establish business return.
Wyzowl reports that surveyed marketers most often measured video ROI using views (67%) and engagement (63%); 52% used leads or clicks, 40% customer engagement and retention, 36% brand awareness or PR, and 32% bottom-line sales. These figures show which measures respondents said they used, not that every respondent used rigorous attribution.

Wyzowl’s 2026 survey also reports that video marketers said video helped increase brand awareness (93%), web traffic (82%), leads (85%), sales (83%), and website dwell time (82%); 57% said it helped reduce support queries. In addition, 82% said video marketing had given them good ROI. These are respondents’ assessments, not controlled estimates proving that video alone caused the outcomes or predicting what an individual business will achieve.

Production can be in-house, outsourced, or hybrid. Wyzowl reports that 59% of surveyed marketers created videos themselves, 10% used external vendors exclusively, and 32% used a mix. The survey does not compare the cost, quality, or performance of those approaches, so the percentages are not a verdict on which is best.
- In-house: Consider it for routine updates when staff have the time and skills and the format is manageable internally.
- External production: Consider specialist help when filming, animation, or a high-stakes production calls for capabilities or capacity the team does not have.
- Hybrid: Keep repeatable explainers or product updates with staff and bring in specialists for technically demanding or higher-stakes work.
Decide based on internal skills and time, volume, complexity, brand requirements, and the value of specialist production—not on an assumption that a larger production budget automatically earns trust or sales. Wyzowl reports that 63% of surveyed video marketers had used AI video tools to help create or edit marketing videos; that figure indicates reported adoption, not a guarantee of suitability for any particular workflow.

You do not need to begin by assuming expensive equipment is essential. For spoken video recorded on a phone, a compatible wireless microphone may be an optional audio accessory; check that it works with your device and meets your needs. The survey does not test cameras, microphones, lighting, editing products, or production services.
What survey findings do—and do not—tell you
Wyzowl’s 2026 State of Video Marketing report says it surveyed 266 unique respondents in late 2025, including marketing professionals and online consumers separated by preliminary screening questions. Wyzowl reports that 91% of businesses use video as a marketing tool and 93% of video marketers consider it an important part of their overall strategy. These are survey findings, not a census or randomized experiment, and they may not represent every geography, industry, business size, or customer group.
Consumer responses offer context, not a sales guarantee: Wyzowl reports that 96% of surveyed people had watched an explainer to learn about a product or service, 85% said they had been convinced to buy after watching a video, 84% wanted to see more brand videos, and 89% said video quality affected brand trust. Those preferences do not show that a particular video will persuade a particular buyer, or that higher production spending automatically creates trust. The report also says 92% of marketers planned to spend around the same or more on video marketing in 2026; this is stated intention, not realized expenditure.
Keeping a YouTube video live around the clock
Some businesses use a continuous YouTube stream to keep a loop of pre-recorded content available, such as a recurring presentation or a long-running channel program. A computer-based setup requires a device and connection to remain active, and the operator must plan for interruptions. A cloud service is an alternative when the goal is to keep uploaded videos looping without leaving a local computer running.

Or let it run in the cloud
StreamNeo is a cloud service for keeping a YouTube channel live 24/7 from uploaded videos. Upload a recording or build a playlist, add your YouTube stream key once, and go live; StreamNeo loops the content in the cloud, so no computer, OBS, or home connection has to stay on. It supports the video as uploaded up to 4K 60fps at one flat price per slot, with no re-encode or quality tiers, and automatically recovers if YouTube drops the stream. Each slot includes one always-on stream, 10 GB storage per slot pooled across active slots, 24/7 looping and playlists, and StreamNeo team support. The first day is free with no card, once per account. India customers can pay by UPI or card; card checkout is available worldwide. Plans are available by day, week, month, six months, or year, and can be canceled any time; contact support for five or more slots. StreamNeo streams to YouTube only and plays uploaded videos; it does not go live from a camera.
Monthly pricing: $9.99 per month. See StreamNeo or its pricing page. To start the free first day, create a StreamNeo account.
