To contact Steam Support, go to help.steampowered.com, choose the option closest to your problem, and follow the guided steps. Steam may resolve the issue through self-service or let you send a help request to its Support team. For account-specific support, Steam says this Help Site is the only way to speak with a Steam Support agent.
Choose the right support route

Steam’s Help Site groups common topics such as purchases, accounts, the Steam client, community, and hardware. Use the route that matches who owns the problem: Steam handles its platform and account issues, while a third-party game’s provider generally handles problems with that game.

Recover an account or report an unauthorized charge
If you cannot sign in
- Open the Steam Support Help Site.
- Select “Help, I can’t sign in” and follow the account recovery prompts.
- If automatic recovery does not work, complete the support intake form and provide as much proof of account ownership as possible.
Steam says recovery is still possible if you have forgotten the account email, password, and phone number. If you see charges you did not make, use the Help Site’s purchase or charge-related support options rather than asking a stranger in chat to intervene.
When to contact a third-party game developer
For a game that launches through Steam but then crashes, has gameplay bugs, or has server problems, Steam directs players to the game’s developer or publisher when the issue is not about Steam authentication or CD-key registration. From the game in your Steam Library, open its Support area, choose the relevant problem, then select “Contact Game Support” to find the provider’s contact details.

Use Steam Support instead for Steam purchase or payment problems, Valve-developed games, Steam account or connectivity problems, CD-key registration, and errors displayed in a Steam dialog. Steam warns that sending a third-party game’s issue to Steam can delay resolution.
How to recognize fake Steam Support contacts
Steam says Valve employees will not contact you about your account through Steam Chat or Discord, and you do not need to contact an employee directly to resolve an account issue. Treat claims that you were accidentally reported or have a pending ban as scam indicators. Requests for your password, Steam authentication codes, item or trade “verification,” or Steam gift-card codes are also warning signs.

- A legitimate Steam Support alert directs you to help.steampowered.com.
- Instructions to resolve an account issue through Steam Chat, Discord, email, or another outside channel are fake.
- Ignore the instructions and report the account involved. If you already shared credentials or a code, return to the Help Site and use the account recovery process.
A narrow exception for an old Valve Store order
Steam’s FAQ says its former merchandise store, operated by For Fans By Fans, is closed. For an existing order from that store, the FAQ lists [email protected] and asks customers to include the Valve Store Sales Order number, order email, and a short description. This is a legacy-order contact, not a general Steam Support address; confirm that it is still active before relying on it. Questions about Steam game purchases belong with Steam Support.
