Get a Minecraft redeem code from a prepaid or gift card, a retailer’s receipt or order email, or the person who gifted it to you. If you do not have a code yet, Minecraft also offers an email-gift option for Java & Bedrock Edition for PC. Redeem a standard 25-digit code on Minecraft’s official redeem page while signed in to the Microsoft account that should receive the content; use xbox.codetocontent.com for a 10-digit code.
Where to find a Minecraft redeem code
A code normally comes with a purchase or gift. Check the source that matches how it was obtained:

- Physical gift or prepaid card: look beneath the scratch-off panel. For Java & Bedrock Edition for PC cards, Minecraft also identifies the back of the card as a place to find the code.
- Digital purchase: check the retailer’s confirmation email or order history. For some Java & Bedrock PC purchases, Minecraft says the code may appear on the store receipt.
- Gift: look for the gift message or email, or ask the sender where the code was delivered.
- Promotion or partner item: check the promotion’s instructions and eligibility terms. These codes may be limited to specific platforms or redemption periods.
Minecraft’s redemption page lists codes for different content, including Java & Bedrock Edition for PC, Minecoins, Realms Plus, Minecraft Legends, Minecraft Dungeons, and promotional items. A code for one type of content is not automatically interchangeable with another.
How to redeem a standard 25-digit code
- Find the code on the card, receipt, order email, or gift message, and keep the purchase proof.
- Open Minecraft’s official redeem page.
- Sign in to the active Microsoft account where you want the content applied. Check the account before proceeding: the content is assigned to the account you use.
- Enter the 25-digit code, review the content shown, and confirm the redemption.
- Open the relevant game or Marketplace to access the content. For Minecoins, launch Bedrock Marketplace and check the balance.
Minecraft states that an active Microsoft account is required to redeem. Its instructions direct 10-digit codes to xbox.codetocontent.com, not the standard 25-digit code field.

Choose the right redemption route for the code
Java & Bedrock Edition for PC
Use the code on the back of the relevant card or on the store receipt, then redeem it through Minecraft’s instructions with the intended Microsoft account. Minecraft describes Java & Bedrock Edition as packaged together for Windows. Older Java Edition-only cards are different: if purchased before December 1, 2020, Minecraft says to contact Player Care for help redeeming them.
Minecoins
Minecoins are Marketplace currency for Bedrock content such as skin packs, texture packs, worlds, and mash-up packs. Redeem a 25-digit prepaid code through Minecraft’s or Microsoft’s account redemption flow, then open Bedrock Marketplace and verify the balance. Minecraft Help says Minecoins carry between Bedrock and Legends when both use the same Microsoft account. See Minecraft’s Minecoins FAQ and Minecoins page.

- A GIFT FOR PLAYERS — Give Minecraft players Minecoins to spend on content in the in-game Marketplace.
Realms Plus, Legends, Dungeons, and other product codes
Follow the product-specific instructions on the official redemption page and check platform requirements before redeeming. For Realms Plus, Minecraft says to redeem the card and then sign in to Bedrock on Xbox or Windows 10 to activate.
Promotional codes and partner items
Promotional codes are tied to particular offers, platforms, eligibility rules, and deadlines; they are not general-purpose game codes. As listed by Minecraft on October 8, 2026, the TikTok and Twitch Treasure Hunt offers had September 30, 2026 redemption deadlines, which have passed. The Aurora Cape deadline was October 31, 2026. A listed LEGO x Minecraft promotion has a December 31, 2029 deadline and applies to participating sets, not every Minecraft purchase. Check the current terms on Minecraft’s redeem page before pursuing any promotion, since offer details can change.

If you do not have a code yet
Buy or give a prepaid card
A physical Minecraft prepaid or gift card is one legitimate source of a code. Before buying, check the content or edition, platform and region compatibility, how the code will be delivered, and any expiration or promotion deadline. Use a seller you trust; Minecraft’s redemption instructions do not establish whether a particular retailer is authorized.
Gift Java & Bedrock Edition for PC by email
Minecraft Help describes an email-gift route for the PC edition: visit the official purchase page, select “Buy As Gift,” and complete the purchase. Follow the instructions for the recipient and make sure the gift is intended for the correct edition and platform. Details are in Minecraft Help’s email-gifting guide.

Get a code included with a promotion
Some participating products, such as eligible LEGO Minecraft sets, may include instructions for claiming a specific DLC code. Confirm that the exact product qualifies and that the offer is still within its redemption period; a promotion code is not a universal Minecraft code.
What to do if a code does not work
- Recheck the characters. Minecraft specifically warns about confusing O with 0 and I with 1.
- Check whether it was already redeemed. Minecraft says codes can only be used once.
- Confirm the account. Make sure the Microsoft account signed in is the account intended to receive the content.
- Check code type and restrictions. Confirm you are using the correct redemption route, and account for limits on older Java-only or region-specific codes.
- Contact Minecraft Support if it still fails. Keep and provide proof of purchase.
For a Microsoft or Xbox gift card or download code, Microsoft has a separate account redemption flow: Microsoft Support’s instructions. That general balance route does not replace Minecraft’s product-specific instructions for a Minecraft entitlement or Minecoins code.
