To see frames per second while playing an EA game on PC, use the game’s own display, a supported Frostbite console command, or an overlay such as Steam. In Apex Legends, go to Settings > Gameplay and turn on Performance Display.
Choose a method for your game
FPS means frames per second: a measure of how smoothly a game is running. The right place to enable a counter depends on the game and the tool you want to use.

Show FPS in Apex Legends
- Open Settings.
- Select Gameplay.
- Set Performance Display to On.
EA says the display shows FPS and ping in the top-right corner. See EA’s Apex Legends instructions.
Use a Frostbite console command
For a Frostbite game that supports the described console function, open the in-game console with the tilde (~) key and enter PerfOverlay.DrawFps 1 to show the counter. To hide it, enter PerfOverlay.DrawFps 0.

If the tilde key does not open the console, EA notes that it may not work with some keyboard locales and suggests switching the keyboard or input source to English-US. These commands are not a universal setting for every EA game; they apply only where the game supports the Frostbite console function. EA’s PC instructions.
Turn on the Steam FPS counter
- In Steam, open Steam > Settings > In-Game.
- Find In-game FPS counter and turn it on.
- Choose where the counter should appear on screen.
EA says this counter can be used for an EA game even if the game was not purchased through Steam. EA’s PC instructions.

Try another overlay if needed
EA also lists Xbox Game Bar for Windows and Fraps as alternatives. Their setup steps depend on the software, so follow the tool’s or your PC manufacturer’s instructions. EA does not rank these options for accuracy or performance. EA’s PC instructions.
