In Roblox, press Shift during gameplay to turn Shift Lock off. This works when the experience allows the built-in mouse-lock control. If you mean a Windows keyboard feature rather than Roblox, these steps do not apply; the setting depends on the keyboard and Windows version.
Turn off Shift Lock as a Roblox player
- Join the Roblox experience and return to gameplay.
- Press Shift once. When the experience supports the toggle, this switches mouse lock off.
- If the camera does not change, open the experience’s Settings and check whether Shift Lock Switch is enabled and available. The experience may limit camera settings, so the option is not guaranteed to appear. iTechGuides’ Roblox mouse-lock guide describes the player toggle and setting.
If the control is unavailable or does not respond, you are playing within limits set by that experience. Check its own controls or ask its developer; a player cannot change the experience’s Studio settings.
Disable the built-in option as a Roblox creator
To remove the built-in mouse-lock option for players in your experience, set StarterPlayer.EnableMouseLockOption to false in Roblox Studio. In the Explorer, select StarterPlayer and set its EnableMouseLockOption property to false. Roblox documents this boolean property in the StarterPlayer API reference; a Roblox Developer Forum discussion also identifies it as the creator-side setting for disabling Shift Lock.
This setting concerns Roblox’s built-in player option. If your experience uses a custom camera or input script to control mouse behavior, review that code as well; the built-in property may not control custom behavior.

If you meant Windows Shift Lock
“Shift Lock” can refer to something other than Roblox mouse lock, including a Windows touch-keyboard feature. The Roblox Shift toggle and Studio property are not universal Windows settings. Instructions for Windows depend on the keyboard and Windows version; a Windows 11 result discusses that separate interpretation at Cloudspress.
