You can’t enter the Sea Dog Tavern through normal gameplay at present, according to Sea of Thieves community reports. The tavern was the lobby for The Arena, which Rare retired in 2022. Rare has not announced a reopening date or an official way to get inside.
Can you enter the Sea Dog Tavern now?
Community forum replies say the tavern is not currently accessible; another discussion describes its doors as locked. These are player reports, not a current official access notice, so a future game update could change the situation. For now, there is no confirmed entry method to use in Adventure.

Why is the Sea Dog Tavern closed?
It was the Arena lobby
The Sea Dog Tavern was associated with The Arena, Sea of Thieves’ competitive mode, rather than serving as a regular destination in Adventure. Rare announced on January 27, 2022, that Arena would close at the start of Season Six, slated for March 10, 2022. The announcement did not provide a route into the tavern after the mode’s removal. Rare’s reason for retiring Arena
Executive Producer Joe “Three Sheets” Neate said Arena had not met its original goals as either a competitive alternative or a shorter-session option. Rare also said Arena accounted for “2% of our players’ time” on a consistent basis, while maintaining it required significant development effort. These details explain the mode’s retirement; they do not indicate that the tavern can be entered now.

Do old guides or Arena rewards help you get inside?
Instructions that rely on The Arena are outdated for ordinary play now that the mode has been retired. Rare’s announcement said purchased cosmetics would remain in player inventories and that certain already-unlocked items could still be purchased after Arena’s removal. Those reward and inventory provisions are separate from access to the tavern and do not unlock its doors.
Has Rare announced that the tavern will reopen?
No reopening date or confirmed entry method is established in the sources available here. The latest access descriptions cited are community discussions, so they should not be treated as a permanent guarantee or as an official promise. Check Rare’s announcement and subsequent official Sea of Thieves updates for any change.
