You can earn Microsoft Rewards points for completing selected Xbox games or quests when they’re available to your account and region. You do not earn wages for ordinary gameplay: points have no cash value, and Xbox or Microsoft gift-card redemptions are deposited as promotional account balance rather than paid out as cash.
How to earn rewards from Xbox activities
- Sign in to Microsoft Rewards. Use the Microsoft account associated with your Rewards account. Microsoft Rewards is included with a Microsoft account; there is no separate Rewards fee.
- Check the Rewards dashboard or Xbox Rewards area. Look for eligible Xbox activities, such as selected games or quests. Offers are not universal or fixed, so read the requirements and deadline shown for each activity.
- Complete the activity on the same account. Then check the dashboard to confirm that the points were credited.
- Review the redemption catalog for your region. Available rewards and gift cards vary by market and can change. Redeem only from the offers currently shown to your account.
Playing any Xbox game, or playing for a particular number of hours, does not automatically earn points. Microsoft’s support information describes selected games and quests as eligible activities; it does not establish a universal points-per-game, points-per-hour, or monthly earning rate.

What you actually receive: points, not pay
Microsoft says Rewards points have no cash value. Its support page says it usually takes about 5,000 points to redeem something worth $5. That is an approximate example, not a guaranteed conversion rate or a promised Xbox payout; the points required and available rewards can depend on the live catalog.
| What you earn or redeem | What it means |
|---|---|
| Microsoft Rewards points | Points for eligible activities; Microsoft says they have no cash value. |
| Xbox or Microsoft gift-card redemption | Microsoft says redeemed value is deposited directly into your Microsoft account balance as promotional balance. |
| Cash withdrawal | Not established as a Rewards redemption option. Microsoft says account funds generally cannot be used to obtain cash, except where law requires it. |
In other words, this is a way to earn points that may be exchanged for catalog rewards—not a job, a guaranteed income stream, or cash payment for each gaming session.

Why offers and redemption options differ
Rewards activities and gift-card availability depend on your account’s region and the current catalog. Check the offers displayed in the account’s home region rather than relying on a list of quests or redemption values seen elsewhere. Microsoft’s support material does not give one fixed point total for Xbox games or quests.

Microsoft warns that automated earning, using a VPN or otherwise masking your location, maintaining multiple accounts, or earning in multiple countries on the same day can violate program rules. Consequences can include suspension or invalidated points. Use the account and region normally associated with you, and follow the terms displayed for each offer.
