The 2026 program later reported a broader mix: developer-led discussion, voice-actor appearances, arcade play and community gaming. Those are examples of programming, not proof of a formal year-over-year expansion plan.
What Andrew Moyes said about gaming at FAN EXPO Canada in 2024
Moyes framed FAN EXPO as a broad Canadian pop-culture event with comics at its roots and growing representation from anime performers and video game voice actors. He said the event also wanted to make room for the people who build games, not only those who perform in them.
“There’s so much more to gaming than just the voices and what you see on the screen, it’s also learning what’s going on for those founders and creators, and that’s a space that we want to move into,” Moyes said.
His 2024 examples included Canadian game maker Rod Ferguson, producer and host Victor Lucas, and a panel with Ubisoft Toronto developers behind Star Wars Outlaws. These were examples from the 2024 edition, not announcements for the 2026 show. MobileSyrup’s August 2024 interview also quoted Moyes describing the event’s wider mix of comics, screen talent, anime voice actors and game performers.

How the 2026 gaming program was reported
Coverage of the 2026 edition showed several different ways gaming appeared in the event. These listings indicate a mix of stage programming, guest appearances and activities; they do not establish that each format was a new addition or that Moyes personally confirmed a long-term expansion.
Panels and game voice actors
A Saturday horror-games panel by Behaviour Interactive focused on Dead by Daylight and 7 Days to Die. The reported gaming guests included Ben Starr and Jennifer English (Clair Obscur: Expedition 33), Christopher Judge (God of War), Elijah Wood (The Legend of Spyro), Jen Taylor and Steve Downes (Halo), Roger Clark (Red Dead Redemption II), Michael Ironside (Splinter Cell) and William Fichtner (Grand Theft Auto: Vice City).
The event coverage described panels, photo opportunities and autographs for guests. The exact schedule depended on each guest’s event page, so the roundup should be read as a report of the program rather than a current opportunity to attend. The 2026 event has passed. MobileSyrup’s 2026 programming preview reported the gaming panel and guest lineup.
Arcade play and community access
A separate program roundup listed Japanese arcade games from Retroware Arcade as free play, alongside free play from Femme Gaming in the Community Zone. It also identified the Bell Esports Challenge as a returning experience. These listings show gaming as something attendees could play or encounter through community programming, as well as watch on stage. The 2026 event roundup described these activities.
What the 2026 edition looked like beyond gaming
FAN EXPO Canada’s 2026 show was its 30th edition. Broader event coverage highlighted a reunion of The Lord of the Rings cast for the film series’ 25th anniversary, including two Hobbit cast stage events and a Sunday “Second Breakfast” experience. Mark Hamill and John Cena were also among the announced attractions and guests. These were major event-wide highlights, distinct from the gaming program. Global News’ coverage quoted Moyes on the Hobbit events, while FAN EXPO Canada’s event information identified the anniversary and 30th-edition context.
The roundup described programming spread across both convention-centre buildings and fandom areas that included anime, sci-fi and fantasy, horror, and gaming. Attendance claims should be treated carefully: event descriptions cited more than 130,000 fans annually or expected over 135,000 for 2026, while a post-event recap said attendance was on target for a record without publishing a final audited total. Those figures are not a verified final count for the 2026 show. The event description, the 2026 roundup and the post-event recap represent different kinds of attendance statements.
