Goofy equips shields as weapons in Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. To compare them, look at the shield’s listed Strength, its separate ability, and whether its description favors attacking or defense. The displayed shield entries have +0 Magic, so their listed stat difference is Strength—not a Magic bonus.

How to read Goofy’s shield stats

The equipment table lists Goofy’s shields with Strength and Magic values. Each shield entry covered here has +0 Magic; its listed Strength is the stat value to compare. A named ability is a separate effect, not an additional Strength bonus. The available equipment references do not establish a complete formula combining Goofy’s Strength, shield Strength, enemy defense, and individual move multipliers, so the listed numbers alone cannot be used to calculate damage.

Descriptions also give qualitative clues about intended use. For example, Adamant Shield is described as defensive and able to block attacks, while Falling Star is a small shield described as solely for attacking. These descriptions do not quantify reach, block duration, or how often a shield blocks successfully.

Representative shields and their trade-offs

Shield Strength Ability or description What the entry suggests
Knight’s Shield +1 No ability listed Goofy’s default shield.
Adamant Shield +2 No ability listed Defensive description; can block attacks.
Falling Star +3 No ability listed Small and described as attack-only.
Knight Defender +7 No ability listed High listed Strength; attack-focused description.
Genji Shield +6 Hyper Healing in Final Mix The Final Mix entry differs from the original game’s Lucky Lucky ability.
Akashic Record+ +7 MP Hastera Final Mix shield listed as a Runemaster drop.
Nobody Guard +8 MP Rage in Final Mix The Final Mix ability differs from the original game’s Hyper Healing.
Frozen Pride+ +5 MP Hastega Trades a lower Strength value for MP recovery utility.
Save the King+ +9 Damage Control Damage Control is listed as halving damage in critical situations.
Ultimate Mushroom +9 Protectga Listed as absorbing 40% of damage taken; awarded through Mushroom XIII.

Chain Gear (+3 Strength) is another example of a shield whose description bridges offense and defense: it is described as large, able to block attacks, and usable offensively. Dreamcloud (+4) is described as attack-focused. Such descriptions help distinguish the equipment’s stated character, but they are not measured comparisons of combat performance.

What Final Mix changes

Several listed shield abilities differ between the original Kingdom Hearts II and Final Mix. Genji Shield has Lucky Lucky in the original and Hyper Healing in Final Mix; Nobody Guard has Hyper Healing in the original and MP Rage in Final Mix. Final Mix also includes shields such as Frozen Pride+, Akashic Record+, and the Mushroom XIII shield line, while Save the King+ is listed with Damage Control.

Abilities with specific listed effects

  • Frozen Pride+ — MP Hastega: listed as increasing MP restoration speed by 75% after MP is fully consumed.
  • Save the King+ — Damage Control: listed as halving damage in critical situations.
  • Ultimate Mushroom — Protectga: listed as absorbing 40% of damage taken.

These percentages and effects are the equipment reference’s descriptions of the game abilities, not results from a separate performance test.

Choosing a shield for your play style

Compare three things together: listed Strength, the ability’s utility, and how practical the acquisition route is at your point in the game. A +9 shield with a defensive ability and a +5 shield with MP Hastega serve different preferences; the largest Strength value is not automatically the best fit if recovery or survival utility matters more to you.

For straightforward Strength, Knight Defender (+7) is an attack-focused option, while Save the King+ and Ultimate Mushroom each list +9. For recovery utility, Frozen Pride+ offers MP Hastega at +5. If you want a shield described as useful for blocking, Adamant Shield and Chain Gear have that qualitative description. The references do not provide enough comparative data to rank these by actual reach, block timing, or total damage output.

How shields fit Goofy’s combat role

Goofy’s Kingdom Hearts II action abilities include shield-based attacks such as Goofy Bash, Goofy Turbo, and Goofy Tornado. His listed support abilities include Defender, Damage Control, Second Chance, Once More, Hyper Healing, and Auto Healing. Together, these support a role that can contribute both physical attacks and party survival, though the available references do not quantify how much a particular shield changes those outcomes.

Game and version scope

This guide concerns the equipment entries for Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix. The official Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX manual identifies Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix as part of that collection. It establishes the collection relationship, rather than shield statistics. The detailed equipment and ability entries cited here come from community reference tables, so exact parity across every platform release is not established by those references.
